The house is a restored two storey Victorian terrace house (town house) in the Petersham, Inner West neighbourhood of Sydney. This is a comfortable family house we have lived in for 20+ years so while in good condition the house is not pristine. There are 3 bedrooms - 2 are upstairs and one is downstairs at the front of the house . All three bedrooms have double beds. The room downstairs can be set up as another living room/workroom instead of a bedroom, and also has a piano. A small 4th bedroom is not available for use as we use it for storing personal items. There is an upstairs bathroom with a shower over the bath. The bathroom is small but functional. The house is a mix of old and new. The living room has two sofas and a free to air tv (I stream using chromecast). The dining room has doors to the outside deck. Small kitchen with caesarstone counter tops, stainless steel gas appliances and a dishwasher. Fully furnished, linens, towels, kitchen equipment, etc. The laundry is outside off the deck and has a front loading washing machine and a dryer. There is also a second toilet in the laundry. There is a washing line in the back yard. Petersham is a fashionable, family friendly Sydney neighbourhood and we are on Palace Street, one of the most desirable streets. There are two cafes on our street, open for breakfast and lunch and a pub opposite the train station which has an eating area. Petersham Park which has an outdoor community swimming pool (open from October to March), a playground, cafe and an oval is 5 minutes walk away. There is another cafe close to the park. Petersham Bowling Club is 5 mins walk, barefoot bowls, pizza, bar, poetry, trivia and music nights and is very community oriented. Walk to Petersham's Portuguese area (the other side of the railway line) or to Norton Street, Leichhardt - Palace cinemas, bookshop, library, cafes, supermarkets etc. Newtown which has loads of cafes/restaurants/bookshops/bars/nightlife is 2 stops on the train. The train is 6 mins walk away - on the train its 10 mins to Central Station/city centre, 25 mins to Circular Quay for the Opera House. Buses are close by on Parramatta Road and from the train station. Bus to Univ of Sydney, RPA Hospital, UTS and Notre Dame universities. Also, 30 mins or so walking distance to Sydney Uni. Drive or train/bus to UNSW. Drive to Macquarie Univ. 20 mins drive to airport or 30 mins by train. You can get the bus or train and bus to Coogee, Bondi, Clovelly, Bronte beaches - about an hour. There are lots of Goget share/hire cars in surrounding streets - at least 2 within 3 mins walk - so a car is not necessary. Pleasant and culturally vibrant family neighbourhood with nearby cafes, restaurants, pubs, local shopping, post office, banks. Good internet. For couple or family or friends who will appreciate and treat it as their own. Deposit required. No smoking inside. The house has been rented previously to families doing sabbaticals at Sydney Uni, I’m sure they would be happy to give you an idea of what living here is like.
