Description

Large (for Brooklyn) 1BR APARTMENT perfect for an individual or couple (and I think a couple with an infant could make it work as well)! The windows, the expansive view, and the full-glass balcony door also make the place feel even larger than it is (and the location on the 18th floor gives you a feeling of being--literally, in this case--above it all). Meanwhile, the 6'x19' balcony itself is nearly like another room (and glorious for sipping your morning coffee while watching the sunrise reflected in Manhattan's towers). In the living room, you'll find a large, comfortable couch; small desk area that overlooks most of Manhattan, North Brooklyn, and Western queens; a glorious (says me) wall of books (which you're welcome to read); and a large TV connected to an awesome Sonos sounds system, which makes film and televisual entertainment an absolute blast. This is also my home, which means it doesn't look or feel like one of those AI-staged AirBNBs. The kitchen was also recently remodeled, and is equipped with a great stove, cool sink, some fussy coffee appliances (Fellow Opus grinder, OXO gooseneck kettle, etc.) and lots of good-quality pots, pans, etc. The bedroom has a queen-sized Thuma Japanese-joinery-style bed frame with a great WinkBed luxury-firm mattress, and I'll make room in either the closet or the credenza (or both) for your stuff if you'd like. There's also heat and AC units in the bedroom and living room, both of which can be used extensively without adding to any costs (all utilities are included), and I've got loads of blankets, pillows, sheets, etc. as well. The bathroom has a full bath (sink, tub/shower, toilet) and the building has a full laundry room downstairs with loads of brand-new machines. Best of all, though, the building has its own maintenance staff, so if anything goes wrong (clogged toilet, leaky faucet, etc., they come straight to your door usually within an hour and fix whatever's wrong for around $20). While the apartment itself is great, where it truly shines is in its location. I think of my immediate area as blissfully "in but not quite of " Williamsburg: In other words, you have easy access to all the good things--parks, restaurants, bars, shops, cultural institutions--that this part of Brooklyn offers, but you're mostly (I think) free of its obnoxious excesses: The tech bros and international cadres of the idle rich mostly live on the North Side, and that's also largely where the weekend influx of drunken college students party too. There's also a supermarket and pharmacy right on my corner, and you're surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and bars. Best of all is transportation: You've got the G train practically in your backyard, the JMZ line two blocks away, and the L about a tenish-minute walk. So you can get to the Lower East Side or East Village in about 15 minutes (depending on the trains that day) while my frequent commute to Midtown rarely takes longer than 30-35 minutes--and it's all on a single train so you can relax and read instead of rushing to a transfer. There is one potential caveat, though: A firehouse and police station are around the corner. The good news: In case of any emergency, the response time is near-immediate. The bad news: My apartment can get momentarily LOUD when the firetrucks have to use their airhorn or the cops have their sirens on when rushing to a call. But you're staying during the winter, the closed windows will dampen much of the sound. My partner thinks I'm making way too much about this (I often go a week or more without hearing a single siren), but I also want everyone to ask me as many related questions as they want--because I don't want you to have any surprises after you arrive. (I just use earplugs at night if it becomes a problem....) Also, as stated earlier, both the price and dates can be somewhat negotiable depending on what you're offering/need, so let's talk.
