This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 16th-floor flat has panoramic views of London and is a 5-minute walk from a Zone 1 tube station (Elephant & Castle) on three lines (Bakerloo, Northern, & ThamesLink). The flat is on the 16th floor facing north toward central London. The view includes the Victoria Tower (of the parliament building), the London Eye, the BT Towner, Hampstead Heath, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tate Modern, and the Shard. The flat is 800 sq ft (80 sq meters), plus a 80 sq foot (10 sq meter) solarium/balcony/winter garden (totaling 900/90 usable space). The "solarium" or "winter garden" can be fully enclosed. It has sliding floor-to-ceiling windows that can be opened during warmer weather to make it feel more like a balcony (with guardrails of course). We have a space heater that can keep it warm on cold days. The building is a modern high-rise, built in 2017. It has 24/7 concierge service and elevators that are programmed to go to your flat's floor after you use your fob at the elevator panel. It has a nice common room and a gym on the 3rd floor. The flat has central heat and a separate heated floor system in addition to a cooling system in the living-room/dining-room/kitchen area, the guestroom/office, and the primary bedroom. Unlike many air conditioning systems in the UK, ours actually works. Unlike many places in the UK, cross ventilation works to keep the apartment comfortable at temperatures up to the low 30s C or the low 90s F. We have a space heater you can put in the solarium to keep the solarium warm in the winter. The primary bedroom has two closets and an en suite bathroom with a shower head and a shower wand. The hall bathroom has a large bathtub with a shower head and shower wand. The 2nd bedroom is best used as a an office or guest room. It has a desk and a loveseat that makes into a British queen-size bed (US double). You can even use it as a screening room if you project an image on one wall (bring your own computer & projector). The closet in that room is locked because we use it to store our stuff. Bookshelves line the entry hall and the guestroom/office. These shelves have some books, but many of the shelves can be used for basic storage. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes appliances such as a blender and an espresso machine. The utility closet houses a washer with a dryer feature and two suitcases can be stored next to the washer. The is a linen closet next to the utility room that also contains cleaning supplies. The neighborhood is a mix of up-scale new development and cosmopolitan immigrant communities. There are restaurants, pubs, cafés, and parks throughout the neighborhood, including the new Elephant & Castle development. The nearest full-size grocery story is a 7-minute walk away. The famous Borough Market is a 17-minute walk. It's a 20-minute walk t0 the Tate Modern Museum, Waterloo Station, or the Old Vic Theater, and 25 minutes to the Thames River. The Ministry of Sound (for those who like night clubs) is across the street. We can hear it some times from the apartment some nights, but it's not too loud. We usually drown out the noise with a fan. Picadilly Circus is only 5 stops (13 minutes) on the Bakerloo Line. Kings Cross / St. Pancras is 7 stops (18 minutes) and University College-London is 24 minutes (8 stops) on the Northern Line. Kings College-London and the London School of Economics are 17 minutes by bus. Elephant & Castle is a bit of a transit hub with direct trains to a large number of popular destinations including Blackfriars, Charing Cross, Oxford Circus, Baker Street, Paddington, Camden Town, Kentish Town, Luton Airport, and many others.
