A bright, spacious, newly updated private bedroom with an adjacent private bath in a warm, welcoming Cambridge home—ideal for visiting academics and professionals seeking both comfort and a sense of independence. Built in 1903 and in our family for five generations, the house blends charming historic character with a lived-in, inviting feel. The space includes a queen bed, a full bathroom located just outside the bedroom and reserved for your exclusive use, and access to a dedicated shared office space suitable for remote work or academic writing. The space is clean and filled with natural light, set apart from the main flow of the house, offering a private retreat for both living and working. For added convenience and privacy, the space is equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, hot water kettle, and a small dining table and chairs—allowing for simple meals and a degree of independence within your private space. Guests are always welcome to use the fully equipped shared kitchen for more extensive cooking. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the home’s shared spaces, including a cozy living room with fireplace, dining room, and two porches. The home is fully furnished and move-in ready. In-home laundry is available. All utilities are included, and a regular cleaning service is provided, making for a simple, turnkey stay. Off-street parking and secure bike storage are also available. Just a one-minute walk to the bus to Harvard Square (about a 5-minute ride on the 74 or 78 from Walden St.), with easy access to the Red Line (subway or “T”) and the rest of Boston. The neighborhood is highly walkable, with excellent coffee shops, bakeries, award-winning restaurants, and grocery options (including Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods) nearby. Fresh Pond Reservation—with its walking and biking trails, green space, and reservoir—is a ten-minute walk away, offering an easily accessible connection to nature. We are a married, progressive couple in our late 30s with a young child and a small cat. One of us works at Harvard as Executive Director of the Harvard University Native American Program, and the other works remotely as a financial planner. Our home is lived-in, with a steady daytime rhythm, while still offering guests privacy within their own space. This space is especially well suited to visiting faculty, researchers, or professionals seeking a reliable home base. You’ll have a private retreat within a welcoming, lived-in home, with the ability to balance connection and independence. If you’re not comfortable around children or animals, this may not be the right fit—but for those seeking an authentic and thoughtfully maintained Cambridge home, it can be a wonderful place to land. Monthly Rate: $2,450 (all utilities included). Our availability typically aligns with the academic calendar: • Fall (September–December) • Spring (January–May) • Summer (June–August) We’re happy to discuss shorter or longer stays depending on availability.
