Peaceful house near Red-line Metro for a responsible cat-sitter

Perfect for a couple or small family, this historic home features a wrap-around front porch to enjoy summer evenings. There is a very small backyard. The house has lots of windows and light. The second story has 3 bedrooms, but our son's room is not included for this rental period. The 2nd bedroom can be arranged with a twin bed or as a study, depending on your needs. The finished basement (which we use as a recreation room) has a washer and dryer. The house has two bathrooms, with a bathtub/shower on the 2nd floor. Our house is a quick walk to the Friendship Heights Red-Line Metro and great bus routes (Georgetown, Downtown, Bethesda, NIH). You'll find many independent restaurants, shops (including local favorite "Rodman's") plus Whole Foods/Trader Joe's within a 10 minute walk. Parks and playgrounds are also nearby. Enjoy swimming outdoors at Hearst Recreation or indoors at the stunning Wilson Aquatic Center for a small fee. While a car is not needed, there is abundant (and free) street parking for those bringing a car. We need to find a caring, responsible person to care for our 5 year old cat while we are away. Our cat is a very sweet, very social guy and we are looking for someone who will take good care of him. He is an indoor-only cat. He would sincerely appreciate guests who are willing to play with him and enjoy cats. If you are willing to do a small amount of yard work (30 minutes every 2 weeks), we'd be happy to talk about a discounted rent. The yard is very low maintenance. There is a small patio in the backyard (and a soccer goal). Of course, you are very welcome to enjoy all the herbs from the garden. The neighborhood of American University Park/ Friendship Heights is a wonderful location for its proximity to downtown and DC's many attractions and neighborhoods. Our street feels serene and calm, but you can quickly and easily explore other neighborhoods including 14th Street, DuPont Circle, and Georgetown. A short 20-30 minute metro ride gets you to Union Station and Capitol Hill. Rock Creek Park runs throughout the city and it is a short drive/bike ride from our house to many gorgeous parts of Rock Creek Park and the Little Falls trail. We are happy to provide additional photographs and information. Our dates are fixed (though staying slightly longer than August 6th would be possible). We are away (internationally) every summer for similar dates so please feel free to get in touch about future summers as well as 2026. We are both faculty and happy to chat about the area. The price is open to negotiation.
