Cozy, charming 4 bedroom Cayuga lakefront home available for winter/spring term. I am a Cornell grad (1985) and come from a family of Ithaca natives. My older son is a Cornell Engineering grad (2024). We currently live primarily in Washington, DC. I purchased this lakefront home in February 2024 and have used it in the summers and fall seasons since. My job is fulltime remote, so I set the house up to be able to work regularly from there. Although I love the house and being in Ithaca, the winter/spring season is the hardest from a weather perspective. I know the house will be better off with someone living in it regularly so I am searching for someone who needs to be in Ithaca for the winter/spring term and would enjoy being in my cozy house. The people I purchased the house from did a full renovation of it in the 2016 timeframe. They were a family of 4 with two teenagers living comfortably there, so it gives you an idea of the size of the house. There is a hot tub on the deck with views of the lake. About 1/3 of a mile down from the house is Stewart Park - a wonderful area for walking in all seasons. Downtown Ithaca and all the shops along Rte 13 are within a 10 min drive. You get the beauty and peace of a house on a large, beautiful lake plus all the conveniences of great proximity to shops, restaurants, and of course Cornell and Ithaca College. Since purchasing the house, I have had what you might call the opposite of buyers remorse - I love the place even more now than when we first got it. With all the windows, it is flooded with light and warmth, even in the winter. I have made a few upgrades since acquiring it and from what is shown in the photos. The upstairs front bedroom ("master") has a new king bed. Both that bedroom and the first floor bedroom have work desks in them with ergonomic chairs. There is a wonderful new (to me) dining room table that can seat up to 12 and the old dining room table is in an alcove off the tv room that can serve as an additional work space. I'd say the two drawbacks of the house are that the bathroom upstairs is in the hallway, shared by the 3 upstairs bedrooms, so the master bedroom doesn't have it's own bathroom. The first floor bathroom is off the bedroom there, so only accessible through that room. But both bathrooms were renovated in the past 10 years (as was the kitchen), so the quality of everything is good and modern. Some people might see the railroad track, which runs between the road and the (fenced) yard of the house, as a drawback but I find it charming. I have barely seen the train over the years. It is slow and relatively quiet when I have seen it. It's really a non-issue. Parking is usually no issue. By Memorial Day weekend there may be some parking pressure with Cornell's graduation and the warming weather, but generally there are plenty of spots on the side of the road above the stairs to the house. Although I am primarily in DC, I have family and other resources in the Ithaca area who are available to help with any home-related issues that arise. I am a very responsive person by nature and I am confident if any issues arise, I will get them addressed promptly. There is a cleaning service that I have used. It runs about $175 to $200 per visit and that's without washing the linens. I'm happy to share the info for anyone seeking a cleaning service. Since I just purchased the home in February 2024, the photos and information in the real estate links is almost entirely the same. See the zillow link below.
