Our house is located on a quiet but accessible road on Lake Wyola in Shutesbury MA. Under 1/2 mi walk (less by kayak!) to the state beach, and surrounded by nature, trails, and low-key lake life, you will not run out of things to do or ways to relax. Modernized with high efficiency heating, central AC, and a backup generator. High-end touches like automated sunshade over the glass-railing porch, remote controlled ceiling fans and dimmable lighting throughout. Heating is provided and controlled by thermostats in each room and a push-button fireplace in the living room. This is a comfortable, funky, and luxurious home, rebuilt in 2011. The first floor has a sun-filled open kitchen, dining, and living area with panoramic views of the lake. First floor also includes a second bedroom, full bath, and laundry. Kitchen is equipped with granite countertops, filtered water system, two sinks, vented stove, and high-end built-in appliances including sub-zero refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, and microwave drawers. Accessory appliances including blender, air fryer, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, and more are tucked away in beautiful cabinetry. The dining table seats 8, plus 6 more at the bar. Both full bathrooms feature high-end brass fixtures, granite counters, and oversized soaking tubs with luxury shower heads and built in lighting. Living room has ample seating with a full couch and 4 cozy armchairs. A smart TV with streaming apps and push-button gas fireplace will keep you warm and entertained inside or step out onto the glass railing wrap-around deck for a front row seat to the best view on the lake. First-floor bedroom has a queen bed, large closet, dresser/cabinet, tv and ceiling fan. High efficiency front loading washer and dryer are adjacent to the bath. On the second floor is the master bedroom, master bath, third bedroom, and office nook. In the master, find more comfort features including automated window shades, hidden flat screen TV (won’t obscure your panoramic lake view), and independently controlled adjustable king-sized bed for maximum comfort of both sleepers. Large closet and dresser holds all you need. Master bath features a cleverly cut eye-level window through the bedroom to enjoy the lake view even as you brush your teeth! Third bedroom has a full-over-full bunkbed for kids and a full-sized futon for guests, a large closet, dresser/cabinet, tv, and ceiling fan. Bright south-facing office nook offers a desk and lamp for a productive workspace. Dry and tidy basement has a second refrigerator and a few surprises! You will find a cozy locker room with built in bench and half bath with sink, toilet, and urinal. Many lake “toys” including kayaks, paddle boards, snowshoes, and skis are also provided. Walk out basement to a weather-protected seating area overlooking back yard and lake. Enjoy meals at the picnic table or rest on the hand carved wood bench. Our home has many unique features. The kitchen bar is outfitted with salvaged bar stools from the “99 Restaurant”. You may be surprised to find intricately detailed hand-painted murals throughout including an underwater treasure chest, a friendly donkey, an immersive rainforest and one very sneaky monkey. Parking for 2 vehicles in the driveway regularly, and an additional 2 spaces are available for visitors. Renter responsible for shoveling small parking area or snow removal can be arranged for an additional fee. Amherst is a 20 min drive (UMass, Amherst College, Hampshire College); Northampton is 35 min (Smith College); South Hadley is 40 min (Mount Holyoke College); Boston is less than 2 hr; New York City is 4.5 hr, with an Amtrak station in Northampton direct to Penn Station. Vermont border is 35 min with many world class skiing options within 3 hr. No pets. No smoking. We have lived and worked in the area for over 25 so would be happy to share tips and advice.
