I'm off to Europe for the next few months, so renting my New York apartment to like-minded folks It's in the heart of the heart of Hell's Kitchen, and convenient to Broadway theaters, Lincoln Center, and, just generally extremely convenient to everything. The E train that goes to JFK is less than 2 crosstown blocks from you. The apartment is a raised first floor, so there's some privacy from the street but you don't have to deal with a ton of stairs. No laundry in the building, but there is a laundry drop-off place across the street (really across the street, you see it from outside the window) which will return your laundry same day if you drop it off at 9am. There's a 24hr bodega at the end of the street, and the new mini Whole Foods 5 minutes away. About the apartment: It is a tiny, tiny 1 bedroom in an old tenement building. Railroad layout, so while the bedroom has a window, it is completely dark because the window is to an airshaft. It is pin-drop quiet, and there is AC there. There is no AC in the living room, but there is an overhead ceiling fan (and the ceilings are 10-feet tall). There is also an air purifier that you can move around. The kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, an instant pot, kettle, toaster, drip coffee-maker, sodastream, and a dyson vacuum. No dishwasher (alas). There is a fridge/freezer apartment sized combo, which is brand new. The living room has a comfy sofa, bookcases, and a dining table for 4. It's also 'my office'. There is a non-working fireplace. Minimal carpet, so cleaning is quick. There is a TV, but it's very much the TV of someone who never watches it so it is oddly positioned on a rotating arm - i basically only watch it twice a year. It is a Roku TV with all the regular streaming apps, and, as you might imagine, I do not have cable. There is however, blazing fast internet from Tmobile 5G. You'd think this would be a bad idea in the heart of midtown, but it's incredibly fast. There is a full bathroom, and the water is reliably hot. The bedroom is small - just a queen bed (with access only on one side), with comforter. It is a very very comfortable bed, I love it so much. Three large wardrobes. And an AC unit in the window. That's it. For peace of mind, the mattress has an anti-bedbug mattress cover (but I'll give you the address, and you can look up bedbug reports for the building: There are none). Pretty much every light in the apartment answers to Alexa commands ("Alexa turn off all the lights" while lying in bed is really the way to live). There are also three Apple homepods, so you can play music everywhere through Airplay (if you have a Mac/iPhone) Because this is a real person's home and not an airBnB, there's the kind of stuff that you may need in a real home but definitely don't want to have to take with you to NYC: There's a basic set of tools, shoe polish kit, battery chargers of various kinds (Apple), towels and sheets in quantities, beach towels to go to the beach (!), a robust cleaning kit, good kitchen knives... you get it. The apartment is very optimized for maximizing its tiny space but living comfortably About the building: It's a very quiet building, and the super lives just across the hall. He's not a doorman - but he's definitely vigilant. UPS/USPS will drop off packages even if you're not present (and. knock on wood, nothing has yet to be stolen). There is a street intercom to buzz people in. The apartment has a fire alarm, a natural gas detector (since there is a gas stove), and a small fire extinguisher. If you'd like, we can arrange for my house cleaner to make visits to you. Just let me know (they have their own keys). A video tour is available at https://ariane.fyi/hello-hk-2025
