Our charming first-floor apartment inside a historic 1870s home is located in Corktown, the oldest residential neighborhood in Detroit. Discover the city on foot, as our prime location is a pleasant short walk to the downtown district and international riverfront, as well as Mexicantown, Greektown and Eastern Market, the oldest and largest outdoor farmer's market in the country. Parks and urban farms are within a mile from our locale, as is the architecturally significant train station and surrounding design campus recently renovated by Ford Motor Company to international acclaim. The private lower flat available for exchange or rent has in the past been used as an artist-in-residence, and is ready to accommodate three guests in separate bedrooms. Highlights include a bright, spacious front sitting room and a lush backyard garden accessible from the kitchen. While some aspects of the kitchen might be outdated, such as the older model refrigerator and kitchen/bathroom flooring, guests will find the home to be functional and tidy, even appointed with a variety of handmade wares by local artisans, highlighting the region's talents. This residence is co-owned by a couple that operates a well-established multidisciplinary arts venue & cafe in the region (trinosophes.com). They are always available to share a breadth of knowledge about the city's contemporary creative scene and cultural legacy with any guest who's curious. Their network is vast, so those seeking to research Detroit will almost assuredly benefit from their resources.
