***Summary*** Two science and tech policy professionals have a fully furnished 2 bedroom (1 bed, 1 office), 1 bath, English basement available in a great location in Petworth. Preference for a 6-12 month visiting professional. We are happy to do a video tour of the place (or in person if in DC) to see if it’s a good fit. ***High level*** - $2300/mo - Fully furnished with most things you need (including small appliances, vacuum, dishes, linens, etc.) - Available as soon as September 1 - Previously tenants have included professors on sabbatical and government employees who can provide a reference on their experience. - Residency is only for a maximum of a single year - Owners live upstairs. They are previously professors who now work in science and tech policy fields. They take pride in their home, and are hoping for someone who will take care of it. - Preference for single occupancy. Occasional shorter-term visitors and guests are perfectly fine but hoping for someone respectful of noise on a day-to-day basis. ***The place*** - Basement was fully renovated (including lowering the floor to give very good ceiling height) prior to purchasing the house in 2023. - Bedroom in the back of the unit has a queen bed with a high-quality mattress and a very large closet and large dresser. Blackout shades. Linens (linen sheets and down duvet and pillows) available. - Office at the front of the unit has a large desk complete with a 38” wide curved high-res monitor, shelving and another closet. - Full kitchen with large fridge, dishwasher, in-sink disposal, microwave, electric oven/stove. Kitchen table has two additional leaves to expand for additional guests with extra chairs in the office. - Living room adjoining kitchen has a couch and a 50” high-res TV. - Full HVAC system with own controls (separate from rest of house) - The door to the staircase connecting the basement to the upstairs owner-occupied unit is always locked. - Full washer/dryer - Full bathroom - High speed wifi (included) - All utilities included - Queen air mattress and extra linens available for occasional guest stays. ***The outside*** - Separate front and rear entrances. - Space for bike parking locked out of sight in the back area of the yard below ground. - Street parking permit available. - Security system: cameras outside the house and entry/exit sensors on downstairs doors and windows. ***The area*** - Fantastic location walkable to everything you need! - 5 min walk to Georgia Ave Metro (subway) stop (Green Line, easy transfer to all other lines) - 1 block from Upshur street - the Main Street of Petworth - with a ton of great restaurants, coffee shops, a comedy room, a book store etc. - Two grocery stores (safeway and yes organics) within a 5 min walk - 1 block from seasonal farmer’s market (May-November) - Other amenities are very close including gyms, yoga studios, dry cleaning, public pools and parks. - 15 min walk or 5 min bike ride into Rock Creek Park (National Park) - 4 mile bike ride to the National Mall.
