We wanted to have a home in Italy, so we bought this beautiful medieval property a few years ago for ourselves, but since it was too big we made it into 4 units with the help of a famous local architect. Each of the four apartments is lovingly decorated a little differently but they all have modern amenities, a fully stocked kitchen, fast wi-fi, and access to the massive terraced garden that overlooks the entire valley. It's the largest garden within the walls of this ancient city. Spello is centrally located within Italy and is very easy to get to from Rome or Perugia. Once here, the apartment is only a 4-minute walk from the main piazza in a quiet alley. This house is unique because it was built with hand-cut peach stone which gives it a warm atmosphere and a lot of charm. It is decorated with local hand-painted Deruta ceramics and local furnishings. We are looking for anyone seeking a long holiday or stay in Italy, to explore Umbria in particular. The peaceful area is perfect for those on sabbatical or wishing to write a book or thesis. Our central location is ideal for someone who desires a longer-term immersion in Italy, either to learn the language, culture, or food. We have had year-long guests with children attending elementary school in Spello as well as digital nomads. The reasons for coming may be many, but all are good.
