It will take you no time to feel at home in this cozy, bright, and amazingly located 2-bedroom apartment with an open kitchen/dining room layout. Its highly desired location is the first feature to mention: a few-minute walk to Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as public transportation options – Red Line subway (Harvard and Central Sq. stops) and several buses; it will be a piece of cake to get around. Street parking is possible with a resident’s permit. The apartment is around the corner from the recently renovated and gorgeous Cambridge Public Library, which includes an amazing children’s book collection, a playground, and a spacious lawn that is ideal for working, picnicking, and relaxing. Bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and more are a walking distance, too, so you will have no problem filling your social life if that’s what suits you. Some refer to this neighborhood as the ‘golden triangle’ due to its near equidistance to Harvard, Central, and Inman Squares. Full of light and character, the open-layout kitchen with exposed brick and access to a private porch is inviting and perfect for entertaining. The private porch is in the back of the building, surrounded by trees, birds and a quietness that will surprise you in this centrally located apartment. The master bedroom is particularly large (enabling a personal office/working area), with two walk-in closets and three wide windows (one is a bay window). A rolling opaque glass door connects this bedroom, through a central corridor, to the rest of the house and feeds into the ‘open’ feeling of the apartment when you leave the door open. The second room is spacious too and has a built-in closet, ideal for storing. The open-layout kitchen contains a gas range/oven, a large fridge, a microwave, and a compact in-unit washer/dryer. Central steam heating and storm windows balance economy and comfort during Boston winters. The floors are hardwood throughout the apartment, excluding the one bathroom. The house is 1006 square feet (93 square meters) and is part of a 6-unit condominium with welcoming and friendly neighbors. The shared yard - an urban oasis in the heart of Cambridge - is accessible from the kitchen and perfect for cookouts (outdoor table, chairs, and barbecue included). The basement provides additional private space for storage. [Note: The photos were taken a few years ago; the furniture is still mostly unchanged, but there are minor modifications, e.g., a new sofa-bed in the 2nd bedroom.]
