This lovely clean and quiet backyard cottage is suitable for one person or a couple, and would be convenient for visiting scholars, post-docs, graduate students or faculty members looking for off-campus housing. The dates can be flexible. Located in Albany (adjacent to North Berkeley), only three miles from the UC Berkeley campus, the cottage has two rooms, each with vaulted ceilings, skylights, and lots of fresh air. The bedroom has a queen bed, a brand new desk with outlets and USB ports, a TV, dressers and a large closet. The kitchen/living room combination has a gas cooktop and a microwave/convection oven. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. The cottage, with a private entrance, is in the landscaped backyard garden of the main house. Occasionally Winnie, our cute senior chihuahua, sunbathes in the yard. Furniture, household items including sheets and towels, utilities, fast internet -- even lemons -- are all included, as are laundry facilities twice a week. Albany is a very desirable and friendly neighborhood. Our location in the Garfield section of Albany has the very high walk score of 95 (Walker's Paradise), which means that most errands can be done on foot. The bike score is 97 (Biker’s Paradise). We are in easy walking/biking distance of famous Solano Avenue with its large variety of shops, cafes, and international restaurants, and we are also in close walking distance of the Albany YMCA, the Rialto Cerrito movie theater, El Cerrito Plaza BART station, El Cerrito Plaza's farmer's market, Peet's Coffee, Trader Joe’s and other shopping and services. One renter commented, “This has been a sweet retreat of a place for me.
