I am originally from Finland, a widowed, and work largely remotely as a Chief Scientific Officer, also having an Adjunct Lecturer position at Monash University Melbourne. I would love to spend a few months Europe, and especially Italy - possibly also Spain or France - for food, history and culture. I am seeking for a place where I could rest, cook good food, explore local history, visit nearby attractions – and yes, also work remotely for part of the time. I would look after your home (and pets, plants etc) as my own. I am neat and house proud and love animals, and not currently having my own dog, I have done dog sitting for years with many regular pooches coming back time and time again, and I can provide references from happy pet owners. I live in the inner city Sydney, about 5 km from the CBD, in a charming Erskineville neighbourhood close to the bohemian area of Newtown. This location is very convenient: approx. 2 km from the University of Sydney, 3.5 km from the University of Technology Sydney, 5 km from the University of New South Wales and 10 km from Bondi Beach and others, all accessible easily with public transport or car. My home is a modern one-bedroom, one bathroom apartment on the third floor, with an additional office nook and a balcony overlooking a quiet street. The apartment is in a pet friendly complex with a fully enclosed shared courtyard featuring grass and plants. The bedroom has a king size bed and direct access to the balcony. The open plan kitchen overlooks the dining and living area, which includes a flat screen smart TV and sliding doors opening onto the balcony. The office area is set up with WiFi, a desk, office chair and three screens - ideal for remote work. There is also a laundry, and the apartment is carpeted throughout except for the kitchen and bathroom. My neighbourhood is known for its village atmosphere, with a mix of historic early 1900s terrace houses and modern apartments, as well as small parks throughout. Sydney Park - a beautiful 40 hectare green space with rolling hills, wetlands, and walking paths - is only a 600 m walk away. A train station is within 500 m, offering a quick 10 minute ride to the Sydney CBD. Nearby you’ll find cafes, restaurants, food shops, a post office, and other daily essentials. The neighbourhood is popular with creative people, families of all kinds (including LGBT+ families), professionals and retirees alike. Surrounding suburbs such as Newtown - known for its cafes, restaurants, bars and alternative shopping - is within easy walking distance. Sydney itself is a major metropolitan city with many attractions, events and active cultural life and food scene. Surrounding suburbs offer a variety of authentic ethnic cuisines, and access to other Australian attractions is just a car drive or a short flight away: Southern Coast, Blue Mountains, Melbourne, Ayers Rock (Uluru), the nation's capital Canberra, Sunshine Coast, not to mention many wine regions such as Hunter Valley, Central Ranges and Orange…
