House layout: Our home has a lot of room. The footprint is approx. ten meters by 7.5 m. It has four full floors (basement to attic) that are finished, plus sun room, mud room, a big storage room, and a two-car garage. The basement doesn't count in US calculations which is why the official square footage is 2350 (~210 sq m). House condition: The house is in great shape - we are renovating it from basement to attic just now, which is why I don't include any current pictures, but happy to video conference a walk-through. Also, check out the link below. Belmont schools: Our town isn't big, so schools are relatively small and my kids all walked to school from first to last grade. The middle and high schools are just a few years old, very nice (cost ~$325 to construct) and also very good academically. The German school has their campus just 2 walkable km away. The Middle school and high school is in new buildings. We also just opened our new library and ice rink. All solar powered, of course. This is Massachusetts, after all. Connections to institutions of higher learning: If you are here to work at a university, you will likely have an easy time getting there. Around the corner a bus goes straight to Harvard Sq, partly along bus-only lanes. From there you can hop on a number of subway lines. Bike lanes follow rivers and disused railroad tracks, so it is easy to get around safely on two wheels. About twenty minutes to Kendall Sq. for example. Shopping: you can buy food and drink at the square that is about 500m away. There are three cafes, including a Starbucks, within the same radius, also specialty cheese and wine stores, . Walk a little farther and there are at least ten restaurants. Big super markets require five min of driving. Ten min for Whole Foods.
