My name is Hannah - I relocated to Richmond, VA from NYC during peak COVID. I've enjoyed having more space, and creating a beautiful place to call home, but am increasingly disillusioned with the grind of corporate America, so am exploring ways to live a more nomadic life for a bit, and would love for someone to be able to experience Richmond like a local in my place. I am looking for someone who will treat my home as if it were their own. This is not a sterile rental, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including games, puzzles, a fully stocked kitchen (starter spices, cooking oils, etc) and even some exercise gear. The house was built in 1883, so it comes with the quirks of any 141-year old, but the location and charm of the neighborhood are worth every creaky stair! Church Hill is the oldest neighborhood in the city, and the past few years have brought a dozen new restaurants, bars, yoga studios, juice bars and a renewed focus on urban development. Half a dozen parks are within a 10 minute walk, all of them offering stunning sunset views. On a busier street, moderate street noise is to be expected, but is not disruptive. Richmond has an incredibly complicated history, as the former capitol of the confederacy, and is doing its best to reckon with that legacy in a thoughtful way to this very day. The city is rife with historical sights, museums, trails and buildings.

Comments: Historic home in the oldest neighborhood in Richmond, minutes by car to local universities and down the road from I95 on ramp and Amtrak Station
Comments: Rate covers first $300 of utilities. Tenant to pay any overage incurred from higher than usual heat/AC or water use. $250 cleaning fee due and you can choose to pay for them come during your stay
Comments: Use of my car may be possible for an additional fee. Pets and children on a case by case basis. The house is historic, with original heart of palm floors that are easily scratched and dented. House is not childproofed.
Would ask you to set my mail aside for my sister to pick up every few weeks.
I have a number of house plants that would appreciate water once a week or so. Nothing high maintenance; anything that has survived this long has survived despite my best efforts to kill it!
Comments: May need occasional access to the home for quarterly exterminator checks or other routine maintenance.

Comments: My home is in a popular neighborhood within sight of VCU Medical Campus. Main campus just beyond. A car not required, but recommended. Richmond is a very active city, always plenty going on. Front porch for people watching, backyard for privacy.

Open to a home exchange in any destination
Comments: While I was required to select a country, I'm very happy to swap to most places in major cities, charming villages, or remote properties with lots of nature or water views
I prefer smoking not allowed in the home
I would like a car if possible
Comments: Depending on the location of the home (if more remote), access to a car would be nice. If not a dedicated office, a workspace separate from the bedroom would be preferable
