Garden Apartment in Harlem, minutes from Columbia

The apartment is ideally located in a beautiful street lined with gorgeous brownstone houses and imposing side stairs so typical in Harlem. It is within walking distance of everything from grocery stores (3 supermarkets incl. Whole Foods) to restaurants, bars, and pharmacies. It is situated in the historical heart of Harlem, but close enough to Central Park so that you can actually walk there — even the Guggenheim Museum is a pleasant 35 min. walk away. Most importantly, metro trains 2 and 3 express will take you all the way down to Penn Station, Times Square or Bryant Park and the New York Public Library Schwarzman building in a matter of 15 to 20 minutes! Also, walk to 125th St. and you catch the A train direct to JFK airport. The main campus of Columbia University (Morningside) is easy to reach either on foot or by metro (change at 96 St. to 1 trains)—20 min. either way. The apartment itself is spacious, comfortable, well equipped (including cable TV and wifi) and decorated with taste and an abundance of artwork. The decoration, and in fact the design of the apartment, are the work of the owner, Katrin, who lives upstairs. Katrin is very friendly and attentive, yet also very respectful of her tenants' privacy. She proved very reactive whenever we called on her with a question, a request or a particular issue. The bedroom is on the garden side, and we were very surprised how quiet it was at night, in the heart of Harlem, even with the window open! We stayed the last 3 months of 2019 and felt immediately at home in Katrin's very welcoming garden apartment in Harlem.
