Hummingbird Hideaway: Steps to UC Berkeley and Gourmet Dining

The house is really welcoming and very well located. It feels comfortable, the furnishings are authentic, and the whole place has a typical Berkeley atmosphere! Brendan and his family are very friendly and helpful, and we really hope to have the opportunity to rent this house again for our next stay.

We spent 3 1/2 months in this house and could not have been happier. The location is wonderful - in the North Berkeley hills, in walking distance from shops, restaurants, several bus stops and the campus. The neighborhood is friendly, quiet and safe. The house is full of history and character, spatious, and perfect also for hosting guests, with a fully equipped kitchen and other amenities. Michael and his family were always friendly, responsive and helpful. We felt at home and would return anytime.

Michael's home is a wonderful place. It is tucked away from the street, and offers quet and privacy. Rare for Berkeley, you also have on-site parking, which saves you the hassle to move daily outside the 2-hour parking zone. You are literally 2 blocks from Berkeley's best neighborhood, the Gourmet ghetto, including the "original" Peet's, Cheeseboard and Chez Panisse.

The house itself is large, very well furnished and comfortable. The appliances and plumbing work flawlessly. The furniture keeps its 1950-60 look intact. The age is an ADVANTAGE, not an issue. Everything is spotlessly clean and in perfect shape.

You have a house to yourself, with a very pleasant deck, that is perfect for individuals and families alike.

The house is located in a very quiet and residential zone, a 15-minute walk from Berkeley University Campus and BART Station. It's close to bars, restaurants, supermarkets... The neighborhood is excellent and surrounded by nature.

The house has all the amenities and appliances that you need for a medium or long stay: towels, kitchenware, laundry facilities.... Additionally, there's a great porch with views of the bay, perfect for relaxing after a hard day.

The hosts live next door; they are very nice and welcoming, and they helped us with everything we needed. We will definitely go back again if we ever come to Berkeley!

We had the best time at Mike and Chaty's lovely house, in a beautiful quiet side street just a few blocks away from the charming gourmet district in Berkeley and from Berkeley campus. As a family, we also appreciated the nearness to various schools and playgrounds, which made logistics very easy. The house is infused in a very warm atmosphere:) all windows overlook trees and from the patio you have a clear view of the bay and hills. The space is very well organized, with plenty of places to set up a working corner. Kitchen is exceptionally well furnished. M & K have assisted us in various ways and have been wonderful hosts throughout. Our stay has been delightful, and we very much look forward to be back!
