The apt is on the 4th of a 7 floor historic landmark building--Monterey (1890). The building has a new elevator, and the super lives in the bldg. My unit has 11 large double-pained windows (silent and sunny); 2 huge bedrooms; a separate study; 1 1/2 over-sized bathrooms (one of them with a shower, the other with a toilette-bidet, sink and washer-dryer); spacious kitchen; and a living-dining room. The apt. has 3 large closets; high ceilings (10.5 ft), recessed lighting and red oak floors throughout. The unit can easily accommodate 4 persons (2 adults and 2 children or 4 adults). Number of beds: 1 queen, 1 full and 1 twin. High-speed, broadband internet, Wi-Fi and access to several platforms. The apt. is fully furnished with Persian rugs, teak dining room set, stylish sofa, antique night stands, chest of drawers, lamps, etc. The master bedroom has a large LED Screen. The kitchen includes a convection oven, air-fryer, Breville Expresso Maker, and a steel-paneled refrigerator. The kitchen is stocked with calphalon pots, plates, silverware, wine, beer and juice glasses and more. The unit comes with towels and linen. All the windows on the east-side of the apt (master bedroom and home office) are double-pained. The Monterey is located directly across Morningside Park and 4 blocks from Central Park (great place to unwind or to let the children run around) and in front of the famous Lafayette Statue. The Monterey is 4 blocks from Columbia University, St Luke's Hospital, and St John the Divine Cathedral, largest gothic structure in North America; and 6 blocks from the overpriced and always tempting shops and restaurants along Broadway. Three supermarkets (Trader Joe;s, Lincoln, and Whole Foods) are within 10 minutes by bus from the apt. To get a sense of the neighborhood, go to Google Maps: enter the address 351 West 114 Street. The Monterey building is the massive, red-brown stone structure behind the Lafayette Statue. The area is filled with countless restaurants (African, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Ethiopian, Creole, French, etc), gyms, cafes, bookstores, bakeries, bars, supermarkets (Lincoln, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods), pharmacies, bodegas, wine shops, hardware stores and banks. The area is home to Harlem's Apollo Theatre, Studio Museum, Shrine Dance Club, Sylvia's Restaurants, Red Rooster, Smoke Jazz Club, Abyssinian Tabernacle Church etc. The apt. is serviced by 7 subway lines--a, d, 2, 3 (express) and 1, b, c (local). Travel time to: a) Time Sq.: 15 minutes; Union Sq: 25 minutes. Several bus lines also service the area; some of them will take you from the west to the east side (upper and lower) along Museum Mile (15 minutes) to CUNY-Graduate Faculty (25 minutes) etc., and beyond to Queens and Brooklyn. This is a family home, not just a rental unit; I expect you to care for my apt. the same way you would care for your own home. A 1000 deposit is required (and will be returned three weeks after you vacate my unit). I have uploaded 10 photos of the apt in the following order: Living Room and Dining Room: 1-2; Hallway connecting the Living Room to Bedrooms: 3; Master Bedroom: 4; Second Bedroom: 5-6; Office: 7; Shower Room: 8; Toilette: 9; and Kitchen: 10. NOTE: As with all NYC coops, Monterey's Coop Board must approve your stay if it lasts 3 1/2 months or more. The tenants I have proposed have never been rejected. The application process is bureaucratic and slow. The Board reviews sublet applications once a month; they must be forwarded to them 6-7 weeks before the meeting (i.e., if your move-in date is 1 May, apply by mid-March, earlier if possible).
