Description

Our family's holiday home is available to rent April to end of June and from September to the middle of November. It is on the waterfront and close to the port of Cherbourg. (8 minutes by car and 15 minutes by convenient local bus). The village has a picturesque little harbour. It's attractive for people who love being in sight of the sea, with only a stone fence inbetween, and feeling the beauty and energy of sea and sky. In walking distance is a little Carrefour supermarket, a pharmacy and beauty hair cutting salon. On the ground floor is a large living room which has a cathedral ceiling. This room has a large dining table with chairs and closer to the outside is the inside sitting area in front of two floor to (almost) ceiling windows with a sea and garden view. There is a door near by which opens onto an outside stone porch for sitting outside for eating or relaxing in good weather. At the other end of this same room is an open fireplace. The kitchen is connected to this room. On the first floor up in this open concept space is a mezzanine area which can be a work area and a day bed. There are two small single bedrooms. The doublebed room has a private sink area and a beautiful seaview. On this floor is the bathroom with a new sink and small shower. The toilet is in a separate WC room. The house is heated with gaz de ville. There is onsite parking right outside the entrance door. A gardener cares for the large yard. The rent includes some utilities however extra costs will be calculated separately and deducted from the guaranty. The older part of the family home is closed as it is used to keep our families belongings. I would be happy to provide you with more information or photos if requested. Here is a review by people who privately rented from me before I listed with Sabbatical Homes. "We rented for October 2024. We loved the village, we used bus, only 15 minutes to the lovely seaport of Cherbourg and also to explore other coastal villages. Local village people answered our questions even though English was not their first language or would find someone who could. We bought fresh baguette daily in the supermarket, had my hair cut in the local shop by kind people and the pharmacy was very helpful with medication. I learned a lot about types of fish and how to cook it at the local fish store. We bought roasted chicken or pork, waiting with local people, from a local older couple who set up their mobile barbecue in the village mall parking lot on Sundays. The owner of the rental home was incredibly helpful and no question was too much to answer, and she was prompt with replies. Would we rent again? Yes, definitely! The house has an old world charm with the most beautiful view of the ocean. We never tired of sitting and looking at the water: it was like a beautiful painting that changed with the light. For us, it was as authentic a Normandy experience for which a visitor could wish. Barbara & Mark from Canada"

Comments: The house is located in the small fishing village that is now connected to Cherbourg and Tourlaville by public transport and is completely self-sufficient with shops, restaurants, fish nurseries, hairdressers and medical clinics, this quaint Norman village offers tranquillity and a healthy, sporty life. Many nature trails start from the house and the spectacle of the sea is always different and fascinating. The place lends itself very well to an artistic or literary residence
