I'm an asst professor of history at a liberal arts college in the region and I will be taking a research sabbatical in Germany next year. My fully-furnished apartment is available for long-term sublet between December 2026 and August 2027 to any visiting faculty member or student 21+. The location is quiet and green yet very convenient. The apartment has two substantial desk spaces, lots of storage space, a large computer monitor, and an extra single bed in the living room for your visitors and guests. It's one story up with a good-sized parking lot downstairs for building residents only. The nearest gas station and mechanic are each about 5 blocks away. Highland Park, Whole Foods, Chase Bank, Target, Home Depot, CVS, and Trader Joe's are each 15-20 minutes away walking or a 3-minute drive. The nearest restaurants (Moonlit Burgers and Fish Nor Fowl) are a 5-minute walk, and there is a halal market/convenience store in the same radius that is open till 1am. Carnegie Mellon and Pitt are a 20-minute bus ride/10-minute drive away with a stop located just 100 meters away from the building (buses every 15 minutes). Neighbors are quiet and building management is unobtrusive yet responsive (maintenance requests can be logged online). The area is safe and residential with several schools nearby. The apartment's smaller windows mean that it does not get lots of natural light, but it's very energy-efficient in both cold weather and hot. Standing desk and single bed can be modified/dissasembled depending on your preference. Closets, bookshelves, and kitchen storage can be emptied depending on your own storage needs; linens, towels, and dishes all available for your use if needed. The sublet process will require a single-page form and proof of ID and income, along with a security deposit of 1 month's rent which will be returned at your departure.
