About the house: We will be traveling intermittently this Fall and subletting our standalone one-bedroom house in Highland Park. The property is completely fenced in and private (it's a back house but the front house is empty), with a huge driveway, a backyard, a front yard, a grill, an outdoor couch/table/seating area, two avocado trees, and a drought-tolerant garden. We have a child so the house is fully equipped for a child (crib, high chair, changing table, toys, etc.). This is our actual home and we will be leaving all of our furniture, art, etc. We are looking for short-term renters who are quiet, respectful of neighbors, and can take good care of our things. We are asking for a fully refundable security deposit of $500 (or more, depending on how long you stay). All utilities are included (high speed Wifi, etc.). About the neighborhood: Highland Park is a trendy, bustling, and extremely walkable area that is accessible to the Metro Gold Line. The house itself is located on a quiet residential street three blocks from York Boulevard. It is walking distance to Occidental College, great bars and restaurants (Joy on York, Hermosillo, Bub & Grandma's Pizza, Ramen of York, Scoops, Doughnut Friend, and many more), shopping (Big Bug Press, Shorthand, NooWorks, Dotter, Micah Cohen), coffee houses (Kumquat, Cafe de Leche), local playgrounds, and the historic Bob Baker Marionette Theater. In the North Figueroa area of Highland Park, you can find Highland Park Bowl, the Old Highland Park Theater (currently being restored by Kristen Stewart!), tons of bars and restaurants, and a wonderful local farmer's market every Tuesday. Neighborhoods nearby include Eagle Rock, Mt. Washington, and South Pasadena. If you want to be able to walk in LA, this is the place to be! About us: We are a late-thirties gay couple with a son who is almost 3 years old. One of us has a doctorate from UCLA and is a social justice researcher, the other has an MLIS from Pratt and is an archivist and research librarian. We have a 13-year-old terrier who always travels with us--our house is dog friendly and we are open to pets for an additional security deposit (yard is huge and dog-secure). In our free time, we both play roller derby, make art (ceramics and stained glass, you'll see it all over the house), read, and do a lot of puzzles. We are very silly family, and we laugh a lot. Our house is bright and joyful and we hope that whoever stays in it will feel as comfortable and happy there as we do.

Comments: We will be traveling intermittently this Fall and are looking to rent out our house while doing so. This is the real house we live in, not an extra property, and we are looking for trustworthy short-term renters.
