Our house is a modern half-duplex with high ceilings, full of natural light that makes it a bright and cozy place in the winter, and a breezy, beautiful oasis in the summer. Most of the house faces north so you get lots of light without heat in the summer (though we also have central AC for the summer, which we rarely need, and in-floor radiant heating for the winter months). The main floor is open concept, with the kitchen, living and dining all next to each other, with a powder room as well (toilet and sink). The dining space opens up onto a large patio with a couch and chairs to relax. We have a lot of plants inside and out, as we love gardening, and we would love to find a match with people excited to have some plants to take care of, but we're also happy to relocate them while you're here. All the appliances are recent and energy-efficient. Upstairs, the 3 bedrooms are spread across two floors. On the 2nd floor, one small bedroom is set up for a child, with a twin bed (we keep floor mattress tucked underneath for sleepovers). There is a full bathroom with bathtub across the hall from this room. The other bedroom is large with a queen bed, a desk set up for writing or working, and its own ensuite bathroom with two sinks and a large shower. On the 3rd floor, you'll find the final bedroom, set up as an office and guest bedroom (another queen bed). It also has its own bathroom with a shower, and a balcony where you can relax in a hammock. There is a garage set up with EV charging and a large stand-up freezer. There is also a parking pad right next to it. We have an electric car (Kia Niro) that we would be willing to discuss leasing for the year, as well as a couple of e-bikes. In terms of location, we live in a very walkable neighbourhood right between two big city parks, Trout Lake and Clark Park. The parks have playgrounds and areas where dogs can be left off-leash. Trout Lake Community Centre is less than 10-min walk and offers an ice rink as well as a wide range of programming for kids and adults. Commercial Drive is a fun, busy and eclectic neighbourhood, with many restaurants and shops. Closest to us are a couple of bakeries, a pet store, a bookstore, and a game store, and there's a large grocery store about a five min-walk away (as well as so many more restaurants, produce stores, and shops). The Commercial Skytrain station - Vancouver's metro - is a 5-min walk away and it will take you straight downtown to Stanley Park, the seawall, the West End, etc., or into the suburbs. In the same spot you'll also find a station for the 99-bus (soon to be replaced by another Skytrain line), the express bus that takes you to the west side of the city (UBC, Kitsilano, etc.). We love our home and neighborhood and are looking forward to connecting with potential matches for our year away!

Comments: Easy access to parks, restaurants/bakeries/groceries, and transit across the city. Very green and family-friendly neighbourhood!
Comments: We can help arrange cleaning services for an additional cost.
Comments: There are stairs but they're easy to gate off for young children (in fact we currently have one gate up for our dog).
We care a lot about our plant and (small) garden so would love to connect with folks who are willing to keep them alive!
