We are both academics (public policy and mental health) taking our new-born to visit family in Japan and Australia for 4 months as part of our sabbaticals. We would love to have someone with similar energy take our apartment while we are away. We've tried to make the place calming, organic (very little plastic, for example, lots of plants), and cosy. It's meant to be an oasis from London's grunge. We sleep on tatami mats and futons (i.e. firm), and there is a Gohonzon if you are Buddhist (we will put it way if you are not). We have amazing views of Alexandra Palace, and great sunsets. We are adjacent to a long green belt running the length of the River Lea down to Stratford and up to Epping Forest. Perfect for runs, rides, and slow walks. The apartment is a new build with amazing underfloor heating, great insulation, and all new appliances, which makes for a warm winter. We've also got a reformer pilates machine and a fingerboard for any climbers or yogis. The kitchen is also very well stocked, both with ingredients and things like a blender, slow cooker, and egg beater. The block is all quiet young professionals. The wider neighbourhood is mostly Orthodox Jews, which can be an interesting cultural experience. They have loud street parties occasionally, but not in winter! The block has excellent security with multiple check points. Happy to lend a bike to any lodger. Access to the Weaver overground line for the East London Universities and Liverpool Street is a 10 minute walk, to the Victoria line for central London is 15 minutes walk downhill or a 20 minute walk uphill, and buses to all the cool bits of North East London are 5 minutes walk. We find the variety of connectivity exceptional, but you do tend to walk a bit more than if you lived right on a tube station. Getting to Cambridge is also very easy with a short bus ride from outside the apartment to Finsbury Park or Tottenham Hale stations. A big supermarket and cheap gym are 5 minutes away, and there are 3 cafes nearby and 20 more a pleasant 20 minute walk away in Stoke Newington. We've put the price on a per month basis. We would ideally like someone who wants to come for the whole UK winter term (January through March), and can offer a 20% discount in that case. We have some flexibility to extend into April if you'd like. We are also happy to offer an additional discount for PhD students and postdocs, and for people visiting from less wealthy nations. Pets are welcome, and kids too, just bear in mind that it's a 1 bedroom flat and gets crowded easily. Our plants are also perhaps toxic to dogs. The couch can turn into a bed and its very comfy, but we don't want more than a couple and a small child staying please. We would be very grateful if you could please water our plants. They are low maintenance (a small amount once a week in winter) and we will leave instructions. Happy to discuss anything in more detail and provide video tours of the apartment.

Comments: Sleep on Tatami mats, enjoy a FULLY stocked kitchen, stay healthy with a standing desk, watch greats views, delight in underfloor heating. Care has been taken to give the space an organic and cosy feel - refreshing after a day in grimy London.
Comments: Unlimited ultra fast internet and heating included. Water is pay as you go. Happy to negotiate discounts for PhD students and postdocs and/or scholars visiting from less wealthy nations. Also discounts for 3 month stay. Regular cleaner available.
Comments: You can smoke on the balcony. Kids are welcome but there's not much space (we manage with a baby). We can apply for a parking permit for you with the council (London is very unfriendly to cars FYI).
We have around 10 houseplants that need a bit of water once a week. We can provide clear instructions.
