Last Minute Stay near Columbia University on Fifth Avenue/Museum Mile?

We have had our delightful second home in Manhattan for 3 years now. It is our bird's nest respite from New York, and a quick train/bus/walk to all that NYC delivers!! The location is amazing, the doormen are very nice, we are at the foot of Harlem, one building from Central Park, express train to 42nd Street/Broadway, local eateries, not far from Melba's, Red Rooster, short walk to museums. This is New York so be careful to look around when walking about. There are panhandlers a block away and easy to avoid. This is a quieter part of Manhattan with residents making their way to/from work. The restaurant row of Harlem/Fred Douglas is three blocks west on your way to Columbia Univ. Directly south is Museum Mile with El Museo del Barrio and Museum of the City of New York (underrated!). The northwest corner of Central Park has been completely redone with a large oval serving as ice skating, pool, or grass depending on the season. The Harlem Meer is a lake with turtles, ducks, geese, year round and plenty of places to sit and watch the humans go by. Fifth Avenue hosts every parade known to NYC, so you will hear music and dancing most weekends during summer. Ours is an elevator building and we are on the top floor, sixth floor, with east/south corner unit squinting views down Fifth Avenue. With 2 queen bed bedrooms including one ensuite bedroom, there is privacy between two couples. We recommend just one couple or two friends. There is a full work station with large second screen, laptop holder, office supplies, etc. We have an in unit washer/dryer but directly opposite our door is also the big washer/dryers if you need to do more than one load at a time. You can have deliveries sent to our unit, either cold or dry storage. The M1 bus is directly outside and can be taken down to Washington Square Park if you want the scenic route. The 2/3 train is one block away and whisks you along the West Side of the city to 42nd Street in 14 minutes with 3 stops. The 6 train is 3 blocks east and travels down the East Side of the city. Costco is at 116th St and 1st Ave, a short walk to 116th and a crosstown bus ride away. Central Park is the gift that keeps giving. You can walk the Conservatory Gardens or around the Meer/Lake, or rent bicycles and travel farther down. The high end retail of Fifth Avenue starts at about 60th Street, just south of the Met Museum at 84th St.
