We’re an academic family opening our home while we’re on sabbatical abroad. We designed and renovated this house from the ground up with one goal: a home that supports the full life — deep work, good food, movement, rest, and community. We hope it serves you the same way. The Home: Set on a tree-lined street in Ravenswood, one of Chicago’s most beloved northside neighborhoods, this beautifully renovated three-story brick home offers 2,500 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space. Extra-wide lot, hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings, and abundant natural light make this feel like a home, not a rental. Sleeping arrangements: a king bed in the primary suite, a queen trundle, and a twin trundle — sleeping up to 6 with ease. For the Work: We’re academics. We know that where you work matters as much as where you sleep. The second floor features a dedicated library and office space lined with bookshelves, flooded with natural light, and quiet enough for deep focus. Whether you’re finishing a manuscript, preparing lectures, or writing a book, this space was built for that. A separate dining room doubles as a secondary workspace or seminar table. Fast WiFi throughout. The Kitchen: The chef’s kitchen is the heart of the home. Custom cabinetry, high-end appliances, a professional-grade range, and an oversized quartz island with bar seating make cooking a genuine pleasure. A walk-in pantry keeps everything organized, and a cozy breakfast nook is perfect for morning coffee and reading. We cook serious meals in this kitchen. You should too. Move & Recharge: The lower level features a spacious recreation room and a dedicated fitness zone with a Peloton bike and free weights. A full bathroom on this level adds convenience. Outdoor Space: Step out the back door to a deck with a fire table — ideal for evening conversations or unwinding after a full day. Beyond the deck, an extra-deep backyard offers rare green space in the city: room to let kids run, host a small gathering, or simply sit under the sky. The Neighborhood: Ravenswood is the kind of neighborhood academics tend to love.
