Charming brick home in scenic, rural Hillsborough, NC

Hillsborough and the surrounding Orange County, North Carolina has numerous natural areas and parks with walking/hiking trails, including the 200-acre Ayr Mount, which is just across the street from our home. If you love taking a walk in the woods, you'll have plenty of places to explore. Downtown Hillsborough is less than a mile away from our home. It is the quintessential small town, full of quirky small businesses and characters (much like the fictional town of Stars Hollow) and several great restaurants (including one by a James Beard nominated chef). We are a 20-minute drive from the more cosmopolitan cities of Durham and Chapel Hill. For those coming to us by plane, during your stay, you would be welcome to use our 2002 Toyota 4Runner for transportation, instead of renting a car. The house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, with 1000 square feet of living space. You will have full use of our home during your stay, which includes a king-sized bed (latex mattress!) in the primary bedroom, a full-sized bathtub in the bathroom, an espresso machine in the kitchen, a flatscreen TV with subscriptions to most streaming services in the living room, and high-speed Internet access for working from home. We have a fenced-in 1-acre yard with lots of green space, including an outdoor movie screen, a garden, a hammock, and a back deck with a grill you can use. This would be a great stay for someone who works from home and is wanting a change of scenery. It is also child-friendly, as one of our bedrooms is currently set-up for our toddler and could easily accommodate 2 children if you fold the daybed out to king size. One important thing to know as you consider this sit: our dog Cookie has leash reactivity towards other dogs, and we prefer for someone who is comfortable with navigating this behavior (even if you're new to it) to be the person responsible for walking her. She needs a kind handler who will help her feel confident and safe.
