This is a rare and wonderful gem in Upper Water Hill! Very friendly landlords who live next door (see below). We are subletting for three weeks in June, 6/6 - 6/23. Any tenant must be OK looking after two *indoor* cats (see considerations) From the original listing: ----- The House: This simple-living 1BR, 3/4 Bath (no tub) house was formerly the actual carriage house to our pre-1900 farmhouse so it has a lot of character and a country/cottage feel. The upstairs has the lofty feel of a, well, hayloft. The house is cozy and homey and wildlife strolls by and the sound you'll hear most are the school kids on the playground next door. Scholars and writers--this little house lets in the light and is a wonderful place to write/think. The upstairs (hayloft) bedroom has high windows and is partially divided (office/workout/studio/nursery). There in en suite laundry. The Property: The carriage house is very private, but you should know that we are right next door and we're kind of a crowd and we share the large front yard with you. We have three boys and two dogs, and we keep honeybees and chickens. Our old walnut trees are lovely, and keep the carriage house shady in the summer, but they are not great neighbors in the fall when the nuts are falling. **If these details do not sound charming to you, this is probably not your house!** Location: The carriage house is set back from the street on our slightly wild wooded lot, less than 1.5 miles from UMich campus. Miller Avenue has a bike lane (soon to be divided bike lane!) and a regular city bus goes to campus. It is possible to live here without a car, but there is one parking spot available. If you do bring a car, know that we appreciate if tenants (who are able to do so) pitch in with driveway shoveling. We will maintain the yard and public sidewalk. The Neighborhood: We are a stone's throw from Mack School, which has a public indoor swimming pool and a tennis court. We are a few blocks from the Ann Arbor YMCA. Bird Hill Nature Area, Kerrytown Farmers' Market, and great Main Street restaurants are all within 1 mile. Public schools schools are Bach, Forsythe or Slauson, and Skyline. Overall: The carriage house makes a great home for grad student/fellow/visiting single or couple/*small* family, or as an A2 base for a commuting faculty person. We both teach at UMich and we are happy to advise anyone new in town and/or the university.
