I am a professor at Fordham University who will be on research leave in Europe. I am interested in sub-leasing my apartment to someone who is looking for a quiet, clean, and sunny apartment in a great pre-war building that is a five-minute walk to the forest and the marsh of the Hudson River. The building is a cooperative (co-op), which means that those who live here own their apartments and are invested in creating community in the building. On Saturdays, just five minutes away, is the Inwood farmer's market that provides fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses, etc., year around. Inwood is known for it's green space, and in addition to the forest there are soccer fields, baseball fields, canoeing docks, trails, birding groups, the greenbelt that allows you to ride your bike all along the edge of Manhattan and the Hudson River, and also the various Columbia University athletic facilities that are just across the street (Columbia has their athletic facilities in Inwood, not by the primary campus). The apartment is on a quiet tree-lined street, next to some historic houses. Because the apartment faces south, it gets sun from the early morning until the late afternoon, which is a real benefit in Manhattan--if you love light. The apartment has one bedroom, so it's ideal for a single person or for a couple. In the bedroom there's a section that can be used as a workstation in front of a window, with views up the hill. The large dining table in the living room can also serve as a large workstation. The apartment will be fully furnished so it's ideal for someone who will only have their personal luggage. The kitchen is fully stocked with whatever you need for cooking or baking. There is also a wine refrigerator that holds about 20 bottles (one of the best wine shops is in Inwood). For transportation, the 1 subway is just three blocks away and can take you to midtown Manhattan in about 25 minutes. The A subway (express) is also in Inwood (the line ends at 207th st--the heart of Inwood), and also takes about 20-25 minutes to get to 59th St/Columbus Circle. There is also an express bus that takes you across the Harlem river to the Bronx. For pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kzyYgoCtpSmAGovKA
