This is a spacious 2-story family home with 4 separate bedrooms, 3 baths, and a beautiful kitchen, dining room, and living room. All appliances are updated. The elementary school, middle school, and high school in the excellent Albany public school district are all within easy walking distance from our home (our three now-adult children all attended Albany public schools for K–12). The neighborhood is safe with a surprising small-town feel given its proximity to the UC Berkeley campus. It’s fun to walk to shops, restaurants, and bakeries on the lively Solano Avenue, one block away (this area in Albany has recently been written up repeatedly as a new destination for great restaurants and shops). The AC Transit stop for a bus going directly to campus is one block away and the ride takes about 15 minutes. One can also bike there in about the same time, mostly on bike paths or in dedicated bike lanes. It’s also possible to take the BART train to campus, to downtown Berkeley, Oakland or San Francisco, and directly to both major airports; the nearest station is about a 15-minute walk from the house along the Ohlone Greenway pedestrian/bike path just across the street. Because the elevated BART tracks run parallel to our street, there is noise outside the house when a train passes; the sound is more muted inside the house, and the trains don’t run between midnight and 5 a.m. We have lived next to BART for 34 years and it doesn’t bother us. There is a separate rental unit behind the main house that has a separate street entrance, so the renter in that unit does not share the backyard space (that unit has its own small patio). The sitting area in the backyard garden is thus only for the main house and its occupants. During the rental period, we will hire a gardening service for the landscaping around the house so there is no expectation of any yardwork or watering from the tenants, but in the fall there will be a harvest available of tasty apples, passionfruit, and lemons from our backyard trees and vines. It is not easy to find a home with this many bedrooms and bathrooms in Albany, so we imagine that this property will be most appealing for visiting families with school-age children, but we welcome any tenants who will treat the home with respect and enjoy the space and the convenient location.
