In more details: Our three story home, built in 1908, mixes the best of the old and the new. It has retained its victorian charm, yet is completely modernized - heart pine wooden floors, high ceilings and carefully restored woodwork, with fully-equipped open kitchen, comfortable bathrooms (one w a claw foot bathtub, one with w shower), and beautiful outdoor spaces. First floor: living room, hall, dining room , kitchen, front and back porches. The basement apartment is rented, and the tenant shares the laundry room. Note: Our 13 year old cat is not able to join us on our trip. Our tenant has agreed to care for him, but the cat will naturally want to meet the people in his house. If you are cat friendly, that’s a plus. He gets along well with children, other cats and dogs once they get acquainted, and he is low risk for people who are allergic. The Neighborhood Mount Pleasant is often referred to as ‘a village in the city.’ A close knit, multigenerational diverse community, it harbors restaurants, cafes, artists, a strong latino community and a farmers market on Saturday. Close to Rock Creek Park and the Zoo (7 min. walk), it makes it easy to spend hours hiking or picnicking in nature. Classified historic neighborhood yet easily accessible by public transportation: one bus route goes downtown via some of the most popular neighborhoods in DC - Dupont Circle & Adams Morgan - Another route goes down 16th st. to the white house, and some buses allow you to go across town East to west. Metro: the green line leads you to the DCA airport, downtown near the monuments, and to the Wharf, a recent exciting mixed used development on the Potomac.
