Comfortable house, with resident owner, to share with discerning tenant, short or longer term. Retired academic, gay male, passionate gardener, avid cook, well travelled; speaks adequate Spanish, basic German, and remainders of Portuguese and French. The house is nicely furnished, the kitchen very well equipped, and has a unique succulent garden in front. In the rear are upper and lower decks with canyon view to the north and a glimpse of Monterey Bay to the south. Birds and mammal wildlife abound, and one can hear the coyotes barking in the canyons well as the sea lions barking in the lagoon. The terraced lower garden hosts a global variety of plants from the world's five mediterranean climate zones. Two bus lines stop a block away, with easy access to the University and downtown Santa Cruz. Local beaches are nearby, and the redwood mountains are just to the north, with biking trails and walks. Santa Cruz has a beautiful climate, thanks to the ocean currents. We are never too hot, and never frozen, though often brisk. We don't need air-conditioning. Sweaters in the morning, shorts in the afternoon. Invite new friends and colleagues to hang out on the deck, for sunrise and sunset!
