Our house is a bit of a Tardis. At the street front you are greeted with the original two roomed early settler's cottage built in 1870. Subsequent owners have extended the foot print so it is now a three bedroom, two bathroom home with a massive light-filled, double-glazed living / dining / kitchen and library area with a cosy fire. This spills out onto a terrace with views over the garden and glimpses of sea and Rangitoto beyond. The house is warm, very quiet and cosy. Gorgeous kitchen filled with lots of staples for the home chef. We are in Church Street, Devonport which is a 20-minute walk to the ferry going into Auckland CBD, as well as to Rangitoto Volcano and Waiheke Islands. It's also 15 minutes' walk to the lovely Devonport village with the Old Vic cinema (with homemade gelato), gorgeous restaurants, cafes and shops, New World supermarket etc as well as a delightful and extensive shorefront playground for younger travelers. We love walking up to Mount Victoria (also known as Takarunga) directly out of the front of our house up Flagstaff Lane which gives magnificent views of Rangitoto and Auckland city (and has a free public tennis court on its slopes). Our house is a short walk to several amazing swimming beaches - five minutes to Torpedo Bay Beach, and 10 minutes to Cheltenham Beach and 15 minutes to Narrow Neck Beach. The house has a quiet downstairs tenant in a separate apartment with a separate entrance. We try not to be too noisy upstairs.

Comments: Probably not suitable for children under 6 years. Our downstairs tenant is very quiet and considerate. Our ideal tenants would be respectful of the tenant downstairs regarding noise etc.

Comments: The house has a separate apartment underneath it which has immediate access to the garden. While we do harvest fruit and herbs from the garden, we tend not to sit in it directly, so as not to disturb the downstairs tenant.

Comments: We have the ambience of a lovely coastal village, with several stunning swimming beaches and beautiful walks, but are only 12 minutes by ferry to the CBD. At peak times the ferry runs every 20 minutes. Our house is walking distance to the local village where you'l find a supermarket, fruit and veg shop, book shops, etc cafes and restaurants as well as NZ's oldest cinema.
