This classic Chicago apartment manages to be spacious and also cozy! Described by previous guests as being "clean, quiet, well-appointed, and in a nice neighborhood," with a "comfortable, peaceful, and very spacious" feel. Other renters enjoyed that the apartment is "decorated in a fun retro style, with whimsical touches" and experienced it as "a great place to enjoy company and conversation." Conveniently located in the Arcadia Terrace/West Ridge neighborhood, with close proximity to Lincoln Square, North Park and Evanston, there is ready access to multiple bus routes that connect to downtown trains, and a short drive to lakefront parks and beaches. In addition to multiple colleges and Universities (including North Park, Northeastern Illinois, Loyola, Northwestern and DeVry), there are many shopping areas and restaurants within close proximity. The apartment is on the 1st floor of a 2-flat (2 unit building) with a short set of stairs up to the apartment. We designed it to be a space we would want to stay in, so the kitchen is stocked with vintage themed appliances (microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, hand mixer) and all the kitchen utensils and cookware you might need. The 2 queen beds have comfortable memory foam mattresses, and the back bedroom/office has a full sized futon. The living room sofa converts to a twin bed for weekend visitors. The building has AT&T Fiber WiFi. There is a washer and 2 dryers in the basement - free for use by renters. Street parking is usually available - either on the same block or on neighboring streets, but we do get snow in winter, so you may want to make use of the available parking garage spot (for an extra fee)! There are usually herbs and veggies growing in the native butterfly garden during the summer months, which you are welcome to share, and in spring and fall the fire pit is a lovely treat. The building was built in 1927, so when we say "vintage" that's for real. Due to its age and construction, the building has radiator steam heat, and doesn't have central air conditioning, but window units are provided for the summer months. As your upstairs neighbor, I work from home when not traveling for teaching, so relative quiet during work hours is appreciated. The apartment was listed as a short term rental for a while, but I've found I don't enjoy having lots of different people in and out of the building every weekend, and would prefer a consistent presence of one of more folks who can become familiar faces. The listing link is included below so you can see the space and what people think of it, but availability has been blocked out to prevent more short term rentals, and doesn't reflect the actual availability of the unit. Looking forward to sharing this building that we love with someone(s) pursuing their own journey of learning and evolving!
