Rural rainforest retreat in Fajardo, Puerto Rico

Our spacious 1-bedroom home in the El Yunque Rainforest foothills offers a comfortable and well-equipped environment perfect for a relaxing sabbatical or writing retreat. The open-plan living area has a cozy living room, a spacious updated kitchen and dining area with table and four chairs, and a designated office space with a desk. (Please note: the office space is a nook directly off the living room - it is not separated by a door.) The kitchen is ready for daily cooking with a full-sized fridge and freezer, oven and stove, dishwasher, ample cabinet space, and an array of kitchen implements such as pots, pans, cutting boards, knives, dishes, utensils, spices, and cooking oils. There are new energy-efficient ceiling fans throughout the home, as well as an AC unit in the bedroom and one in the living room. The unit has one very large bedroom with queen bed, two nightstands with lamps, a full-sized dresser, and small workout equipment (yoga mat, exercise ball, hand weights). There is a very large adjoining closet area with a private full bathroom and plenty of room to store suitcases out of the way. The unit has another full bathroom and private access to two different balconies with peaceful rainforest views. This is our home and we are making updates and renovations little by little, so the place will be changing and improving over time. We will update photos periodically to show improvements! This 1 bedroom unit is on the second floor of the property. There is a separate studio apartment also on the second floor, which is currently available for short-term rentals. If the studio is available during your stay and you'd like to utilize it as a separate writing / creative space, or to accommodate more than 2 people, we can negotiate a rental rate for joint usage of both the 1 bedroom apartment and studio together. Please note that while the studio apartment has a full bed, dresser, dining table & 2 chairs, full fridge, microwave, water kettle, and counter / cabinet space, it currently does not have a sink or cooktop (though we will be renovating it in the near future to have more kitchen capabilities).
