Perfect for visiting academics, grad school students and doctoral researchers . The apartment is located in Mitte, the central district of Berlin. You will have private use of two interconnected rooms creating a total of around 30sqm - these include a bedroom and a separate large study / movement studio; bathroom and kitchen are shared with another person avery conscientious, clean, discreet and personable house-mate. He works as a nurse at the Charité hospital nearby, and is thoroughly respectful of personal space, quiet and very kind. He never has parties or late nights. The apartment is over 100 years old abd newly refurbished. It has the high ceilings and beautiful wooden floors that the traditonal 'altbau' (old-build) Berlin apartments are known for. You'll have a cosy bedroom with an open view connected to a large space that can be used as a study or a place to move, or do design and creative work. The quiet bedroom has a double bed, underbed storage and a small hanging rail and storage bench. The mixed use study/art room is about 21 sqm. There are tatami mat sitting platforms, and a comfortable easy chair. It can be fitted with a desk and work chair on request. The second bedroom where my housemate lives is on the other side of the apartment, separated by a corridor.. The bathroom is bright and modern with walk-in power shower which is filtered to remove limescale, chlorine, etc. and softens the water. The eat-in kitchen is large, with a table, bench and stools, a washing machine, and everything you'll need to cook and prepare your food. The apartment is peaceful and quiet, located in the centre of a well-maintained garden courtyard. There is a great new café at the street entrance, a good place to work, meet neighbours, etc. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, there is no lift. Public transport links are excellent with the Pank Strasse U-bahn a 5 minute walk away, and Gesundbrunnen station about 10-12 minutes walk. The tram stop is less than 5 minutes away. There is a shopping centre at Gesundbrunnen with at least 4 big supermarkets, drugstores/pharmacies, etc. Humboldthain recreational park is very nearby for jogging, swimming, and beautiful views of Berlin from the old bunker. I am an Indian-French practicing artist and researcher. I completed my PhD in contemporary art at Goldsmiths University in 2024. I am currently in Berlin as part of an art collective, and am planning art research and work trips, and residencies for the foreseeable future and often stay at my studio. I am available for advice and even mentoring if you are also doing a PhD or want academic advice, etc. I will make sure your stay in Berlin is as comfortable as possible.
