Listed among "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" (“France’s Most Beautiful Villages”), Angles-sur-l’Anglin offers an authentic and immersive experience of French country life. There is so much to do and discover nearby — from swimming in the Anglin River to wandering the cobbled lanes and visiting the unique Roc-aux-Sorciers, an Upper Paleolithic rock shelter famous for its prehistoric carvings. The Loire Valley châteaux are within easy reach for day trips (about a 45-minute drive). The region is rich in gastronomy, with many Michelin-starred restaurants, local farmers’ markets offering fresh local produce and cheeses, and famous vineyards (Chinon, Sancerre, Saumur, etc.) where you can schedule visits and wine tastings. The village is located just five miles from La Roche-Posay, a spa town you may recognize from the world-renowned skincare brand of the same name, founded here nearly a century ago. Established more than 350 years ago, La Roche-Posay was officially recognized by the French government in 1869 as being of public utility and became the first spa in Europe entirely dedicated to dermatological treatments. Thousands of visitors come each year to benefit from the healing properties of its waters. Now owned by the L’Oréal Group, La Roche-Posay products are famous worldwide. In the center of La Roche-Posay, you’ll find several historical monuments of interest, including a fortified Romanesque church dating from the 11th century.
