I’m looking for respectful guests who will appreciate this beautiful home, its garden and stunning view overlooking the medieval village of Angles-sur-l’Anglin and its castle. Listed among "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" (“France’s Most Beautiful Villages”), Angles-sur-l’Anglin offers an authentic and immersive experience of French country life. There is so much to do and discover nearby — from swimming in the Anglin River to wandering the cobbled lanes and visiting the unique Roc-aux-Sorciers, an Upper Paleolithic rock shelter famous for its prehistoric carvings. The Loire Valley châteaux are within easy reach for day trips (about a 45-minute drive). The region is rich in gastronomy, with many Michelin-starred restaurants, local farmers’ markets offering fresh local produce and cheeses, and famous vineyards (Chinon, Sancerre, Saumur, etc.) where you can schedule visits and wine tastings. The village is located just five miles from La Roche-Posay, a spa town you may recognize from the world-renowned skincare brand of the same name, founded here nearly a century ago. Established more than 350 years ago, La Roche-Posay was officially recognized by the French government in 1869 as being of public utility and became the first spa in Europe entirely dedicated to dermatological treatments. Thousands of visitors come each year to benefit from the healing properties of its waters. Now owned by the L’Oréal Group, La Roche-Posay products are famous worldwide. In the center of La Roche-Posay, you’ll find several historical monuments of interest, including a fortified Romanesque church dating from the 11th century. Suggestions for Local Activities : Horse Racing : Experience an afternoon at the races at the La Gâtinière Hippodrome from May through September. This racecourse features a grass trotting track, a flat track, and an obstacle course. The Creuse : The banks of the Creuse River and its recreational area are perfect for picnics, while the surrounding thermal park offers a peaceful haven of nature within the town. Bucolic hills, flower-filled meadows, lakes, and forests crisscrossed by hiking trails will delight nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. Thermal Heritage : Even if you’re not here for treatments, the extensive gardens of the Parc Thermal are open to the public and well worth exploring, with beautiful water features and thoughtfully designed plantings. Casino : The Casino Partouche La Roche-Posay welcomes you with its gaming room, restaurant, and auditorium. With 150 slot machines, electronic English roulette, electronic blackjack, and traditional games, it offers a lively and entertaining atmosphere. Golf and Tennis : Completely renovated in 2022, Golf La Roche-Posay is a great place to spend a sunny day outdoors. Castles of the Loire : The Loire region is home to a wealth of architectural treasures, including châteaux, churches, medieval villages, and historic towns such as Saint-Étienne, a designated City of Art and History. Abbaye de Saint-Savin : Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Abbey of Saint-Savin — only a 15-minute drive from Angles — is an exceptional treasure. Discover the largest collection of wall paintings in Europe (11th–12th centuries) and explore a fascinating site that has been a center of artistic innovation for centuries. Amusement Parks : Enjoy thrilling attractions at one of the many theme parks in the area. Futuroscope, about an hour’s drive away, offers unique rides and experiences. For a larger adventure, you can drive or take the train to Disneyland Paris. How to Get There There are four high-speed trains (TGV) daily from Paris Montparnasse station to Châtellerault station. The journey takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, followed by a 25-minute drive to the village.
