We are professors at University of Michigan who live part-time in our cheerful 2-bedroom/1 bath in Ypsilanti, two blocks from Eastern Michigan University (EMU)'s campus. A quiet, urban retreat. The apartment occupies the entire second floor of our gracious old house. Walkable, LGBTQIA+ friendly, diverse neighborhood with cafes, shops, restaurants, a riverside park, public transportation, and protected bike lane nearby. Both bedrooms have queen beds with memory foam mattresses. Light-filled living room, separate dining room, and a bright office nook for Zooms. Off-street parking behind the house. Catch the public bus 2 blocks away. University of Michigan's Central Campus in Ann Arbor is a 30-minute express bus ride. Dogs OK ($50/mo. pet fee). Included: fiber internet, linens and towels, all utilities, air conditioning. Access notes: For folks with mobility challenges, please note that our unit is on the 2nd floor and requires climbing a flight of stairs to enter/exit. The back stairs (from parking area) are narrow and steep; the front stairs (from street) are wider and easier to climb. Also, bathroom toilet is standard height (not “comfort height”) and could be difficult for folks who prefer a taller seat. Bedrooms: Queen beds with Brooklinen duvets and 600 thread count sateen sheets. “Blue Bedroom” has a large closet, dresser, lots of light. “Orange Bedroom” is smaller, darker, has a smart TV (no cable but you can log into your streaming services or Airplay from your device). There is a door connecting the bedrooms — a quirky detail of this old house! — which can be kept closed (for privacy) or open (for parents with small kiddos). Dining room and living room have Joybird furnishings. Round dining table seats four. Living room has a smart TV. Kitchen has new appliances, basic cooking equipment, drip coffee maker, burr coffee grinder, electric kettle. We provide snacks, Earl Grey tea, and delicious coffee from a local roaster, RoosRoast Coffee! Bathroom is basic but functional. Tub/shower combo. Fluffy Fieldcrest “spa” towels, eco-friendly 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner and shower gel. For longer stays (14+ days): On-site laundry available.
