As part of a professional relocation (academic sabbatical between the University of Grenoble and McGill University, from July to December 2026), we are looking for a long-term home exchange in Montreal for this period. Our semi-detached chalet-style house is located in the village of Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse. The house was fully renovated five years ago. The ground floor features a large open living space with a kitchen, dining area, and living room. There are two bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bathtub). The house has four bedrooms and an office spread across two floors: Bedroom 1: large master bedroom with a double bed Bedroom 2: two single bunk beds (90x190 cm) Bedroom 3: one single bed (90x200 cm), one crib (60x120 cm), and one double mezzanine bed (140x190 cm) Bedroom 4: two single beds (90x200 cm) The house is child-friendly, with plenty of toys, a piano, and books and comics for all ages. There’s a southwest-facing balcony and a garden behind the house with a terrace, a pergola for evening drinks, a children’s play area, and a vegetable garden. One protected parking spot is available. We also have two (fairly independent) cats who will be happy to receive a few kibbles during your stay. We’re just a 5-minute walk from the village center of Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse, a lively and dynamic mountain community with frequent concerts and events. In the village, you’ll find a grocery store with fresh bread, a local market on Tuesdays and Friday afternoons, restaurants, a community bar, tennis courts, playgrounds, a mountain biking trail, a soccer field, a ropes course, and a riding center. There are many outdoor activities nearby: In summer: hiking (several trails are accessible from the house), ropes course, rock climbing, mountain biking—perfect for nature lovers. In winter: sledding, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and snowshoeing. If snow is present, the cross-country ski area (a large network linking Le Sappey and the Col de Porte) and the alpine slopes (four ski lifts) are just across the road from the house. We live in the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. Within a 30-minute drive, you can visit the Grande Chartreuse Monastery and museum, hike to the summit of Chamechaude (the highest peak in the Chartreuse), enjoy the outdoor pool in La Diat, visit the Arcabas museum, and much more (see here: https://www.chartreuse-tourisme.com). Grenoble is just a 20-minute drive away (also accessible by bus, with a stop within walking distance of the house). The Belledonne and Vercors mountain ranges are about an hour’s drive. Finally, several lakes are also within a one-hour drive (Paladru, Aiguebelette, Monteynard...).
