This Edwardian family house on a friendly and quiet tree-lined residential street in Acton/Shepherds Bush is ideal for a short or long stay. It's close to Portobello Road in Notting Hill, the river Thames, and Chiswick House and gardens. Then, when the bug hits, there's all the glitter of Westfield (a monument to Mammon, one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe, with a parade of restaurants and a 10-screen cinema). The area has its own traditional pubs (the Hawthorn and the Princess Victoria are my favourites) and 3 parks within a 10-minute walk (Ravenscourt, Acton and Wendell), as well as the multicultural life we expect from London - including Middle Eastern fresh fruit and nut shops (I consider The Nut Case the best in the world!) as well as bakeries, even a Japanese one! For evenings, there's the Lyric Theatre and Riverside Studios in Hammersmith and the local Bush Theatre within walking distance. There's also an independent cinema, ActOne, within walking distance, in a former Victorian library. It is a 20-minute walk from the River Thames at Hammersmith where you can wander for miles in either direction, enjoying the riverside pubs, criss-crossing the bridges, or watching the rowers. Try the wonderful organic Elder Press cafe, or the Chiswick Cinema, or the iconic Olympic Studios over the river at Barnes where the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and the Who all recorded. Or mooch around Chiswick's many boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and have a rummage in the Old Cinema antiques market. And when you are ready to explore further afield, there are good overground links to the south (Kew Gardens and Richmond), east (trendy Hackney) and north London (Hampstead Heath), and fast Tubes to the centre of town (Oxford Circus is 30 minutes away). Ask any questions - I have lived in the area for a long time and know it inside out!
