I'm a retired professor from UC Berkeley and I am looking to share my house with visiting faculty or postdocs coming to work and collaborate with others at UC Berkeley or Berkeley Labs. The house is in a very quiet, peaceful, and safe part of Berkeley on a street lined with maple trees. The house is walking distance to UC Berkeley and public transportation, and there are many nearby restaurants, cafes, markets, shops, and parks to enjoy. The private bedroom is large, quiet, and sunny, and includes a desk, new queen bed, two closets, a non-functioning fireplace, and central heating. You will have access to a predominantly private bathroom with the possibility at times of sharing it with one other guest/visitor. You will have shared access to the common areas of the house — living room, dining room, kitchen, sunroom, backyard, laundry facilities, etc. The house is located walking distance to campus (< 1 mile), AC Transit bus picks up on the corner, and closest BART train station (Rockridge) is approximately 1.5 miles. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, stores, markets, parks, walking trails, etc. nearby. Monthly rent includes utilities, high speed WiFi, and monthly cleaning of the commons areas of the house, and your bedroom and bathroom. Access to park one small-medium sized car in the garage is negotiable. Street parking is limited to 2 hours on weekdays unless you obtain a residential parking permit from the City of Berkeley. Unlimited street parking is permitted after 5pm and on weekends. Occasional guests of yours are welcome to stay with you, and there is the possibility to also have guests stay in the upstairs attic bedroom.
