Hello! We're Imogen and Cantlin. We're looking for someone to enjoy our lovely house in leafy Walthamstow and be temporary custodians of our two cats, Archie and Minka. Work has taken us to New York for a few years and made the (tough) choice to spare our cats a cramped life in an NYC apartment. We're hoping to find someone who sees their presence as a joyful bonus! About our home: The house is a spacious 2-bedroom (+1 office room) Victorian terrace with restored period features, including a working marble fireplace. Downstairs is an open-plan living room and dining room with a separate kitchen that opens out onto the south-facing garden. We're keen cooks so invested in a top of the range stove and Sage espresso machine. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms that we use as a king bedroom, a spare double bedroom and an office. Worth noting that the back room currently has the boiler in it (makes a noise) but it's south-facing so would make a great art studio. The whole house is triple-glazed with acoustic glass, so it's very peaceful inside - friends who catsitted in the past say it's like being on a mini-retreat! The garden has two chill seating areas, one in the sun and one nestled under our large birch tree. There's a raised bed for people keen to grow things themselves. It backs onto a railway (obscured by the birch) so overground trains will be going by but this hasn't bothered people staying here before. There's a woodworking bench for any keen carpenters and a fire pit and BBQ for hosting friends. About the cats: we joke that Archie and Minka (brother and sister) would be completely self-sufficient, were it not for their lack of opposable thumbs preventing them opening the food sachets. They are the loveliest, chillest pair of cats who spend a lot of time sleeping: outside in the summer and inside in the winter. Technically all they require is twice-daily feeding and their water topped up (we've got a self-dispensing dry food machine for snacks in between meals and/or tiding them over). But they live for a brush (they're long-haired Ragdoll x British Blues) and a belly rub. They're very personable and have accrued an adoring fanbase in the neighbourhood. No health issues or anything to worry about (touch wood!). We can discuss the ins and outs of what it would be to look after them, but we're pretty laid-back. Their food gets sent to the house on subscription and they have full pet insurance. About our neighbourhood: A quiet, safe area. The house backs onto a large park with well- connected cycle / walking paths taking you to Walthamstow Wetlands, Hackney Marshes and the Canals. We're lucky to have an amazing bakery, coffee and wine bar a short walk away, with the Walthamstow pubs and Blackhorse Road breweries beyond. It's a gorgeous 15/20 minute cycle ride over into Clapton and Stoke Newington neighbourhoods. About us: We love hosting, going out with friends, gardening, carpentry and eating (in or out!). Our backgrounds are in design and psychology (Central Saint Martins / UCL) and film (Edinburgh) and we now work in tech. We want to be good landlords so please just ask if you need anything! We come back to London often and have a close group of friends / neighbours who can be on hand while you're staying there. About you: If you're looking for a cosy, calm retreat that's still under half an hour from central London, and would love to have the company of two loving cats, then this is for you. We're looking for someone who is responsible, trustworthy and who cares as much as we do about being a good custodians of our house and cats. If you love the outdoors and want to be near green space then you'll love our home. Comments: Ideally we'd prefer a long-term stay (to reduce disruption for our cats-in-residence) but are still open to a short-term (1 month) stay
