Set deep in the heart of the Black Forest, this extraordinary historic farmhouse is one of the region’s hidden treasures — beautifully preserved, completely secluded, and surrounded by untouched nature and absolute quiet. A rare retreat for those seeking privacy, beauty, and genuine restoration. Despite its peaceful isolation, the house is ideally situated for exploring the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Switzerland. Basel — home to one of Europe’s great cultural and university centers — is just 40 minutes away, while Zurich can be reached in about an hour. A car is essential, but once here, you can hike, bike, swim, ski, or simply disappear into the landscape for days at a time. The celebrated spa town of Badenweiler, with its Roman thermal baths and renowned wellness treatments, is only 20 minutes away. Eutopia, the anthroposophic cultural center in Schopfheim, is approximately ten minutes away. The surrounding villages host legendary weekend markets, where local food culture is a way of life rather than a trend. Five minutes from the house, the 300-year-old mill in Wieslet still bakes what many consider the finest traditional farmers’ bread in the region. The house itself is both elegant and deeply comfortable, designed for long, restorative stays. It features a stunning chef’s kitchen and dining room, two beautiful bedrooms each with their own private bathroom, and an additional guest powder room beside the kitchen. Every detail has been carefully considered to meet the expectations of an international traveler while preserving the warmth and soul of an old Black Forest farmhouse. Living in New York City, I have traveled extensively, and nowhere allows me to truly exhale quite like this house. It is a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience a quieter, richer rhythm of life.
