Apartment has one-bedroom, plus a loft with a platform bed and futon for occasional guests or, with its large rocker and desk, for use as a comfortable reading/study area. The large southern exposure windows provide light and heat all year round and you can glimpse the Golden Gate Bridge and Mount Tam from the 4th floor balcony which provides expansive views of the Berkeley hills. The unit retains its artistic provenance as the designer-owner’s former studio, and is decorated in a mix of urban chic and unique objects with a wabi-sabi aesthetic. The building has its own laundry room for residents. The large outdoor patio features a pleasant fountain, loved by our feathered friends, and there is also a grill available for residents and a bike lock-stand. 24/7 security cameras operate in the public areas of the building. We have housed many professors and visiting scholars over the years, to their universal commendation. (One of the owners is a former Cal Visiting Scholar himself.)
