Only 5 miles (10 minutes) from Stanford, our modern Portola Valley home is within walking distance of a gourmet grocery store, a hardware store, the town library, a mexican restaurant, the town's tennis courts, elementary and middle schools, and more -- and located in a very safe, quiet, natural area. It's a short walk to trails in the Windy Hill system, which offers fabulous hiking opportunities. Also Portola Valley is famous as a cycling destination. In contrast to suburban towns nearby, Portola Valley offers an opportunity to truly experience Northern California. You'll see fog cresting over the ridge; hillsides covered in pine trees and naturally flowing streams; you'll spot deer, hawks, turkeys, and many other birds and animals. On our street, you can stroll among redwood trees. Neighbors have horses and apple orchards. In season, you may have opportunities to harvest fruit from our apple, pear, plum, lemon, lime, and other fruit tress. At night, open the windows to cool breezes flowing down from Windy Hill. You will need a car to live here. Within a 20 minute drive, you can visit a half dozen different downtowns with great restaurants. Within a 45 minutes drive, visit beautiful beaches and state parks. San Francisco is also a 45 minute drive away (can be longer with traffic). San Jose is also nearby, and we use both airports. The large house has three bedrooms and one office. It can also be configured as as four bedrooms; or as two bedrooms and two offices. The main bedroom has a king bed; the others have queen beds. We a large living room with a fireplace, a family room, a large kitchen, and more. Outdoors, there's a wonderful patio with a fire pit, a BBQ, and comfortable seating. The gardens have flowers most times of the year. Fast internet and wifi included. There's an alarm system. We may have one garage parking space available and there's parking in the driveway.
