Barbican is probably the coolest address in London. It’s very central, very stylish and would suit those interested in living in an iconic grade 2 listed address in the heart of the city. It was built in 1960/70s in Brutalist style (from Le Corbusier). It’s located in the City of London. It’s within 5 mins walk to multiple tube stops and lines including the new Elizabeth line which runs to Heathrow. St Paul’s cathedral is 10 mins walk and the Thames (with foot bridge to the Tate Museum) is 15 mins away. You can hear the bells of St Paul’s when balcony window is open. The British Library is 15 mins. Within the Barbican estate there are cinemas (cool art house stuff), a museum and gallery, the London Symphony Orchestra is based here, the Guildhall school of drama is here so you can see plays with future stars. Residents get a key to open access to private gardens and areas closed to public. It’s one of London’s cultural hubs. It’s a housing estate but pretty fancy. It is very safe. There’s a concierge and estate office who collect packages. Our building is Ben Jonson house, on the second floor. Fun fact there’s a Banksy on our building (a Basquiat Banksy). There’s bike storage in the car park in the basement of Ben Jonson. There's a lift/elevator. The flat itself is split level, two floors. Whilst Barbican is brutalist outside, it’s very mid century modernist inside. You enter on second floor. There’s a bedroom with a balcony and a bathroom (bath and shower) with original sink and tiles. There’s a staircase down to living area. The staircase is original too (teak). The living space is large and has a sofa, chairs, table etc and a double balcony with some plants and garden furniture. There is a kitchen with fridge freezer, oven, washer/dryer, dishwasher and a new Bertazonni cooker. Beyond the kitchen there is an office space with sofa bed. It’s all concrete so very quiet. We don’t hear our neighbours. There is underfloor heating but this isn't on in the summer. The flat is fully furnished.
