We are offering for rent over the summer and other school holidays our new and much loved family home in Florence, at the heart of Firenze Capitale. Architect-designed and renovated over the winter 2022-23, the apartment is in an elegant 19th-century building on Piazza d’Azeglio, a sought-after, beautiful green square just a few minutes from the historic center. It looks out onto the Piazza d’Azeglio and its trees on one side, and onto gardens, houses and the hills beyond on the other. There is an elevator. It is exceptionally airy, quiet, and bright. The windows are high and let in light from the north-west and the south-east. There are 4 bedrooms – 2 double, 2 single - and 2 bathrooms, one of which with bathtub, both of which with walk-in shower. One single bedroom, used by one child, is double-height, and the single bed is on the upper, mezzanine level, while the main level currently functions as the kids' living room. where there is also a sofa. The other single room looks out onto the terrace. The pleasant eat-in kitchen is very well equipped for serious cooks. There are thousands of books, and a desk in each room: this is a perfect writing retreat. There is also a lovely, planted terrace, ideal for the warm months - and it’s covered, so one can use it at all times. Decor blends modern design, warm colors, and Moroccan and Indian textiles and rugs. The floors are wooden. The mattresses are organic and of highest comfort. Temperature is constant as the walls are thick, the ceilings high, and the windows double-glazed - when they are open they ensure cross-ventilation, but there is A/C if needed. There is an excellent upright piano. The flat is also superbly located: far from tourists but within a 3-mn walk to the Sant'Ambrogio market, a 5-mn walk to the Kunsthistorisches, a 10-mn walk to the EUI's School of Transnational Governance, as well as from the main sites, and within easy and quick access by car or public transport to the hills. All necessary shops and many excellent restaurants are in the immediate vicinity. There is a playground inside the park of Piazza d'Azeglio. This flat is perfect for families and is large enough for two families or friends sharing.
