We're two academics planning to be away on a visiting fellowship in Europe. We're hoping to sublet our fully furnished two-story home during the time we're gone. It's a beautiful, spacious place in a great location. We adore living here, and we think it's the best deal in town! Our place is one half of a duplex on Milpas Street. Our unit is set in from the street, so it's very quiet, but it's also close to everything that Milpas Street has to offer - including Bossie's Kitchen, The Shop, Trader Joe's, and endless taco options including La Super-Rica! Some of our favorite places to walk to include the Handlebar Cafe, the Cheese Shop, Renaud's, the Three Windows brewery, Alice Keck Park, the Courthouse and sunken gardens, and of course, State Street. The Riviera Hills and East Beach are also within easy access. The 2 bus stops a half-block away, and you can reach UCSB by walking / cycling / taking the 2 bus to the central bus station and then taking the 24x bus. Trader Joe's is a 3-minute drive / 5-minute cycle ride away, and Sprouts a 5-minute drive / 7-minute cycle. The French doors in the living room lead to a patio with great views of Santa Barbara - on clear days, you can see the ocean! The principal bedroom looks out onto the Riviera hills. Our home technically has three bedrooms, but we've been using one as an office, and another as an office-guestroom. There's a queen bed in the upstairs principal bedroom, which has a tall lofted ceiling and is attached to a very large 'Jack and Jill' bathroom and a walk-in closet. The office-guestroom downstairs has a twin bed that pulls out into a king. There's a second full bathroom with a shower-tub downstairs. We both spend most of our time working from home, so the house should be well set-up for anyone who wishes to do the same. We think the space would be perfect for a couple, but it could comfortably house three (a couple + one more person). We're hoping to find sublettors who can stay for the entire duration of the time we're away, but we'd be open to breaking it up, and we can also be flexible on other details! Amenities: The large kitchen is fully equipped (oven and stove, microwave, disposal, dishwasher), and we also keep a Weber grill on the patio for barbecues. There's a laundry machine in the garage (we prefer to hang-dry our laundry). There's central compressed-air heating and cooling throughout the house, though we keep a portable air conditioner in the principal bedroom for the odd heat wave. We thankfully haven't had to use it yet, but we also have an air purifier.
