Beautiful downtown loft (parking, wifi, utilities included)

I lived in this beautiful historic loft while studying at Duke and it’s honestly one of the best rentals I’ve ever had. The space is bright, quiet, and thoughtfully laid out, with high ceilings, huge windows, tons of storage, a real workspace, and a fully equipped kitchen that actually works for cooking. The location could not be better—right in downtown Durham, an easy walk to the farmer’s market, restaurants, music, and the American Tobacco Trail. What truly sets it apart, though, is the landlord: incredibly responsive, kind, proactive, and flexible. Any small issue was handled quickly and thoughtfully. I always felt respected, supported, and genuinely cared for as a tenant. I’d recommend this loft wholeheartedly for moving to Durham.

I lived in this loft for nine months, and it was ideal. The huge windows and high ceiling give it an open, airy feeling, while the building (as a converted department store) is so solidly built that one doesn't know that there are people living above and a (very good) restaurant below. The furniture, appliances, and supplies are excellent. The owners are incredibly responsive to any problems. The optional parking right behind the building is a major convenience. Above all, the location is perfect, within easy walking distance of multiple restaurants and bars, two branches of the YMCA, the Durham Bulls ball park, the performing arts center, and so much more. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful studio apartment in an old department store. High ceilings, huge windows overlooking Main Street, many amenities nearby, and the owners are wonderful. They couldn't be more helpful.

If you like urban living and need a place in Durham, this is the perfect place for you. I truly loved living in what is a spectacular space. Located in a building ca. one hundred years old, this apartment with its open floor plan and high ceiling is striking for its modern feel as well as look. Everything I needed was in the apartment, nearby stores and restaurants are extremely convenient. This is a place conducive to work (I sometimes work from home) as well as to socialize or chill. Access to the roof terrace is a definite plus.
The landlord is the best. Michele communicates clearly and swiftly. She always was helpful.
I love my own place. Still, I wished I could stay here if only my fellowship had lasted ...
