Spacious, detached, furnished family house to let in Old Marston from August 2026. Convenient for city centre and all the University buildings by bike, bus, car or walking through University Parks. It is also convenient for the John Radcliffe hospital and Brookes University. There are good primary and secondary schools within walking distance. Ideally we are looking for a family who will take it and look after it for about one year. Downstairs there is a large traditional kitchen/breakfast room with an Aga cooker (gas-fired), fridge, sink, dishwasher etc plus an adjoining ‘back’ kitchen with electric cooker, washing machine and tumble drier. There is a separate larder with chest freezer. Also downstairs are a dining room, a sitting room and a study. Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms (three doubles and two singles). The bedrooms are not ‘en suite’ but there are two bathrooms upstairs, one with a shower, and a cloakroom with a shower downstairs. The house has gas-fired central heating and there are open fireplaces in the study and sitting room. The house is one of the old village houses of Marston (probably early eighteenth century) but has been extended several times over the years (most recently in the 1880s). It was originally a farm and there is still almost two acres of land attached; there is a large secluded and productive garden to which tenants have exclusive access and also about an acre of orchard with various fruit trees, blackberry thickets etc to which access is shared with the occupants of an adjoining bungalow. The area provides a sustainable source of logs for the fireplaces. The landlord takes responsibility for upkeep of the garden and orchard. There is private (off-street) parking for cars and several bicycles are available for the use of tenants. There is space enough to keep well-behaved pets provided that we know about and have approved them in advance.
